Oddly enough, I was at Richmond Subaru just yesterday...I saw a SWP Sport-tech waiting for it's owner to it pick up (Freaking smexy!)... I also talked to one of the sales rep and he said there are 17 cars to be expected in that particular dealership this year... They will get another truck with 2-3 cars for next month I would assume...

This.

The sales people and managers have some sort of communication issues, they say one thing and the other person says something else.

They also wanted a $2000 nonrefundable deposit on the BRZ, which they said can take anywhere from a few months to over a year.
The manager said since they have a display model in, its nonrefundable cause you can see it..

And if you guys should look up what they did to a customers car and refused to fix it. The original post is on RevScene, they scratched up the paint through their 'detailing' and refused to fix it, while dragging it out for months. When they finally decided to do something about it, they started mocking the customer whenever he came in. I would never let them near my car. :3

Peter Cho: We won't get anymore BRZ this month. Have to wait for July 15th
Me: I see. July 15th, is that the base or the sport-tech model?
Peter Cho: I HAVE NO IDEA
Petet Cho: ORDERING A SCION WILL GIVE YOU A BETTER CHANCE
Me: I thought you said in your Craigslist ad you're getting 10?
Peter Cho: Yes, but they are not coming. What can I do?
Peter Cho: YOU CAN GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK AND ORDER SCION. SORRY I CAN'T HELP U
(I'm like whaaaa? Did He really say that?)
Me: Next time, if you're not sure of how many you're getting, don't falsely advertise like that. You mislead people into coming in with fake promises. Now I have to drive back all the way from Coquitlam to take my deposit back. Thanks for wasting my time and gas.
Peter Cho: Nothing I can do, I want to sell more BRZ! but they didn't show up on time. It is Subaru mislead all of us. I DON'T MAKE ANY MONEY FROM U. ANY WAY, YOU CAN COME AND GRAB YOUR DEPOSIT BACK, THERE ARE 12 MORE PEOPLE AFTER YOU. THEY WILL MOVE 1 SEAT FORWARD NOW.
Peter Cho: I told you before, if you don't get it on june. You can always get your deposit back.
Me: Subaru mislead you? Did they tell you you're getting 10 and then they didn't deliver? Where'd you get the 10 cars you mentioned in your ad?
Me: I'll leave my deposit in and just deal with another sales person. See, I don't mind waiting. I just hate your attitude of telling me to get a scion and that you can't help me. That's not how sales work! Do you actually have a license to sell cars???
Peter Cho: Yes.
.... and then he keeps on going that he's not making money off of me (probably 5 more times) that I can get my deposit back (3 more times) and telling me to sue him because of his phony ad blah blah blah....
So I guess there's the update on Richmond Subaru... Not getting more BRZ this month and all their customers should just get a Scion! I find Peter's "sales technique" a little odd and fascinating.... wonder if this type of service helped him sell cars...
Peter is new or something I spoke to him when I was looking for a new car about a month ago. He kept telling me he would look into good pricing for me for the Impreza, he would just ask his manager to come talk to me. Then his manager comes out and instead shakes my friends hand like we already bought something, and I told him that Peter said that he wanted you to give us some numbers. And the manager was like talking about how we should pay instead to my friend.

Harsh fail. We booked it out of there asap.

Yeah, now that you've mentioned it...whenever I asked the sales rep a question, he would then always go away and tell me "I'll ask my boss about that, one second" (At least 3 times). Communication is somewhat there, but obviously just not a very well organized dealership in general...Though; at the same time, I can't really complain because at least the guy was nice and polite enough to answer all my inquiries without asking me to get a Scion FR-S intead... XD

That's unfortunate. I know 2 people working there as well (not Peter). Anyway, they'll learn when business drops. Telling a customer to get another brand is quite odd...

I am also dealing with Peter Cho at Richmond Subaru and is involve in the same situation. I put in my deposit a week before end of May and was told that I still have a almost certain chance of getting the car in mid June. I called on the 14th and was told that he knows nothing. No VIN, No idea what color or trim are coming in. All he knows was that "the ship" will dock on June 15th.

Everything I have been told from our conversation is vague as can be. Although I don't need the car until September, I would at least like to know precisely which month it will come in. It's just that getting the "I don't know when" answer is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. I know he has information, but he's just not disclosing it.

Sales manager Ronald on the other hand was very pleasant and efficient to deal with when we bought our 2012 Impreza, that's why I went back to Richmond Subaru knowing their reputation (plus I live in Richmond and absolutely despises Don Docksteader, story for another time).

About the $2000 deposit, he asked me for $1000. When I told him Ronald told me it's $500, he said " let me ask the higher ups, went away and came back saying no. I told him I only have $500 on my card, and rest in cash, he ended up taking just a $500 credit card deposit. No harm done in this part. Though he did seem somewhat reluctant to write refundable deposit on our agreement; I had to ask twice to make sure it was in writing.

The way Peter Cho advertised it to me was that I am second in line for a SWP Sport-tech. He claims that most of the orders at Richmond Subaru has been automatic WRB, which I find hard to believe. My overall place in line is 9th and they were getting 12 cars in the "first shipment" (note: not a total of12 cars in this year, but the 1st shipment will contain this many). This I also find hard to believe, considering my deposit was dropped at the end of May, and their allocation number is so high.

I don't really have anything good or bad to say since I don't care when my car gets in. But his overall lack of information I find a little irritating. Without a VIN, the way I see it is that I'm on a waiting list in hope of someone bailing out on a SWP Sport-tech.

If what Peter said was true, that SWP Sport-tech they have on the lot right now is the 1st one, so naturally I should get the next one. I will post an update if the next one isn't mine. That way we will know if he's screwing with us. If that's the case, I might start leaving other deposits elsewhere.

I dealt with Sebastian GoH and then Donald. I went into Subaru last weekend, asked about the BRZ.. they said they had about 15 people waiting in line for a MT. Then Sebastian said they could get me an AT in SWP right away.. I was a bit skeptic as the Subaru on cambie said that either transmission would probably be a long wait. So i ended up putting down my $1000 deposit. Sebastian said it was unrefundable, but then Donald said it was, as he could sell the car easily. I ended up picking up the AT SWP sport tech model a week later, this past Saturday. I still can't believe i got mine so fast. They said no one wanted an AT brz, so I was first in line! The car has been awesome so far!

This.

Actually was the reason why I didn't go with Subaru as the largest dealership (largest allocation) is full of douche bags

Actually, I pre-ordered mine from Sebastian from Richmond Subaru on the beginning of the May, and was told that I'm second in line for SWP Sport-tech 6MT. (6th or 7th from overall)

So basically, either one of sales person lied on us about the order. I'm still waiting for the call at this moment..

This is contradictory to what Peter told me as he claimed that AT tranny and WRB was their most demanded combo. Congrats to you nonetheless!

Thanks for your info. I'll have to go in and see if they can show me a list of what had been ordered and find out which place I'm in. Though I doubt they're willing to show their cards, as it seems that they are willing to tell you "things" to grab on to your deposit.
