Great point here. My decision would be a little more clear cut if I was with someone but right now, single with very little responsibilities. I heard from many that relationships disintegrate due to one person working very different shifts and they never see each other...

Another great point here. I do remember the simple 8-5, M-F work schedule and having weekends off like what mostly everyone I know have.

Sure, it's kind of cool and makes it much more laid back, but it's much harder to be noticed for the work that you do.
I've been trying to get on a day shift for like 4 years now.

We have a supervisor at nights, which I heard wasn't the case for the first 3 years since acquisition. I think that's the only reason why I am in the mix to learn the next position and hopefully get promoted by end of year.

You've put a monetary value on moving to days. 8-11K lost per year. That's 667-917 lost per month. Can you absorb that hit without much stress, or would that makes things tight?

Yup, I was on days for my 6 month internship and most of the leadership is on dayshift - which is where I also experienced almost all of the crap office politics. Probably a minor reason why I chose night shift instead.
