If you are having a bumper painted for $250 or under, thats like a single stage paint job from MAACO or some shitty guy painting it out of the back of his truck...

A bodyshop "REAL" paint job for a bumper should be in the $400-500 range.

Well,

I had the dealer repaint & replace a OEM rear bumper cover.
Total was right at $700 with a perfect GBS paint match.
The dealer made the paint place do it twice, the first attempt was not perfect.

I still have the old cover. Scratches only, no cracks, so I would be willing to sell it for cheap to someone local.

^ This!

I went to a paint shop to see how much it would cost to paint a spoiler that was raw urethane and the guy told me to do it right with the custom color and flat finish I wanted would be between $400~$450. Mind you, most of the cost was in the prep work,i.e.,washing,sanding,using adhesion promoter, more sanding. It's sounded like a real bitch.

With that said, all of the work that's involved just prepping bumpers, which is the same material that my spoiler was made of,I'm pretty sure that's the real price.

I once heard that body panels for this car are expensive as they are all imported from Japan. The prices you list don't surprise me.

Technically it still is I would say give and take probably within next couple of years we'll be seeing Taiwan generic parts for bumpers and fenders, heck even hoods.

an entire new bumper cover was only ~$250 from the dealer.
I thought that was pretty cheap.
The cost is mostly in the paintjob
