"Come Race Me Bro" Encounters

Had a good one last night - I was behind another car with a loud exhaust. Honestly I'm not even sure what car it was and he takes off once the light goes green. I'm guessing he wants to see if I will respond. I don't. So while I'm about 40 meters behind his car he starts swerving in his lane left and right.

I'm not sure what the guy's deal was. This was at night too.

LMAO! This basically happened to me the other night. Was getting home really late another dude probably early 20s in his M4 pulls up next to me at the light and starts revving his engine. I jokingly revved my Jetta back at him acting like I was down to race and the second the light hit green he launched forward. About 15-20 seconds I see police lights ahead and him pulled over. Made my good night an even better one!

I had the opposite thing happen. My wife and I were cruising home through a notoriously cop-infested bit of interstate in the slow lane, doing about five over. Cars were passing me on the left one after another like crazy. Crest a hill and see a cop on the side of the road, looks like he might have pulled someone over a few minutes earlier. Lane is clear so I move left, pass him, move right again. While I was passing him, a red Camry pulled right up my trumpet, so once past the cop I move back over. Never got out of CC. A few minutes latter the cop comes screaming over a crest and pulls me over. Said he got me doing seven over. SEVEN. I was getting passed, was tailgated as I passed him, and stayed out of everyone's way the best I could. My BRZ is red, so I try to just not draw attention. I ask about the cars that had been screaming by me, and the tailgater as I passed. He said that was why he pulled me over, I was obstructing traffic. I was like,


"I moved over for YOU!"
"You should have sped up for traffic."
"So you're giving me a speeding ticket for not going even further over the speed limit."


At this point he walked back to his car with my information, got everything straight, and gave me my ticket and sent me on my way. the ****.

On another note, since I had my custom muffler delete done (which sounds awesome, by the way, so very pleased with it), I get a lot more attention from people wanting to race. I did enough stupid garbage when I was younger, so no thanks. Take it to the track. I can see why they're interested, though, with the way the car looks and now it crackles and pops non-stop and is quite loud. Sounds super-aggressive, too.


EDIT: Forgot to say as well, that the Toyobaru crowd around here doesn't seem to interested in being very friendly. I can't get a wave (except for the guys who go to our local Cars & Coffee, they're awesome). I see a yellow special edition FRS pretty regularly, and he is an absolute ****. I waved at him on my way home as he was going the other way on a little road I take. He actually leaned out the window (as far as he could, not a lot of window to lean out of on these cars), flicked me off and yelled something. Sounded like "F*** YOU!". Really not sure what that was about. I have never seen him other than going the other way as I go to/from work, and I've never done anything unseemly to him, that I am aware. Maybe he thought I was flicking him off or something?

You know, I was reading through this thread the other night and I was starting to feel a bit left out. Hahaha! People never Come Race Me, Bro when I'm driving the BRZ. However, when I'm driving the Exige around it happens ALL THE DAMN TIME. I never engage people in this behavior (older, wiser now) but it just amazes me when people in all sorts of cars, everything from clapped out Civics to M4's, downshift and careen through city traffic to prove something to me and/or themselves. (EDIT: It's ESPECIALLY weird/funny when someone in a Twin does it.) I've witnessed more than a dozen or so near-accidents because of this. It's... mind-boggling.

I had 2 encounters last night and both nearly occured at the sametime.

So last night on my way home I was at a stoplight on an incline. I was on the merging lane and a Genesis V6 coupe was on my left(Middle lane). As the light turned green, he was waiting for me to go at it and once I started to pull forward normally (I didn't intend to race since there's no point in these speed contests.) he gunned it and kept going up the hill and he raced himself lol. Then, as I passed an intersection, a bugeyed wrx made a right and went up the hill as well. He was atleast 10 car lengths behind me at that time and next thing you know, he catches up and he downshifts to 3rd or 2nd gear and he paces me. His exhaust was stupid loud and In my head I'm like, "Damn can I just enjoy cruising without getting hassled to race?" So my street was coming up soon and so I downed it to 3rd to 2nd as if I was going to race, and then slowed down to make a left. As I was going to make the left turn, the guy in the wrx looked at me, flipped me off and gunned it lol.


I didn't think I'd ever get hassled yet since my car is stock other than the badges I installed. :Iono:

I was the first car at a stop light last night and I see a bone stock FRS approach the intersection from the left. As he goes through the intersection, he downshifted and got on it. I heard nothing but the rush of air flowing through the stock exhaust system. I will never understand what runs through some peoples heads when they see a modded car on the road that they want attention from.

In regards to the Genesis, I had a Mustang race himself, he looked stupid. However, for the WRX I can't believe that he flipped you off and drove off speedy, doesn't sound like the Subaru thing to do lol

Seems like not much people having good "come race me bros" so heres an ok one. The other day i was picking up some food and a wrx pulled up next to me, he made sure to get next to me at the red and revved a little so i went with it and at the end he rolled down the window smiled and said nice car and drove off. Was pretty cool i thought.

I had my first "come race me bro" experience since buying the car last November... And it was with a pickup truck? I don't know what model, but when I looked to my right, my eye level was the bottom of his door. Set the stage: I'm timing a light where I can just roll through it instead of stopping fully (in the left lane). In the right lane, a guy in a pickup truck. As I approach, light goes green, and I roll through without really getting on it too much to get back up to speed. Next thing I know, this pickup truck blows by me doing at least 70-80 (in a 35 that transitions into a 45 by the next light). He then proceeds to cut me off and flip me off... Then has to slam on the brakes at the next stop light fishtailing back into the right lane. I pull up next to him at the next light, he turns down his Offspring he had blaring, starts going off on a rant, "oh hell no man, shit..." Probably realizing he is arguing with air because he can't even see me, he turns his music back up. Light goes green, we both set off at a normal pace (I rarely make my way out of the dip in normal driving (I have my beep set at 4500)). He then speeds back up changing lanes in front of me again. Only to immediately get back over, without signaling, cutting off another car, because he was about to miss his right turn... I don't understand people. If I had to imagine what he looked like, it would be Justin Long's character from the Sasquatch Dumpling Gang.

dude, I am sorry. mainly, because i would have lost it. I hate dealing with cops and can rarely handle the situation with a level head so i would have fucking got in more trouble. that is why i am glad i have a dashcam too, I could have recorded his ass and got his badge number.

Pulled up to red light to turn left in the outermost lane...dodge dart was sitting in the left most turn lane

light turns green so i take off and i notice he tries to keep up with me...the fr-s is so amazing that you can take a wide turn quicker than the guy on the inside lane and we end up side by side but i was in the powerband in 2nd gear after a redline shift in 1st gear midturn and smoked him in the straight line

i wasn't racing but out for a spirited joy ride because the weather was nice..he just wanted to join in on the fun i guess after he heard my downshift revmatches and probably thought i wanted to race...found it amusing i was able to beat another car in a straight line with the fr-s ahaha

I always notice Rallye version darts trying to show off their turbo... -_- their still slow lol.. not nice cars either.
