So, I'm a nerd

,apparently. I just ordered, um, a, uh, "lightsaber."

Seriously.

I don't know why I got this itch to own a crazy indulgent niche toy, but I have been squirming for a few months and I was alone, at home, with a credit card and, well, fuck it, I scratched the itch!
I got this one. http://store.vadersvault.com/battle-wrap-havoc/

I liked the wrap for better grip and upgraded to the heavy grade dueling blade. Oh, did I say one? Silly me. No, I got two! Why two, you say? Well, because I want to fight people and you can't do that without two and I get the feeling my wife would really enjoy smacking me upside the head with one of these.

Obviously, I would need them to be able to shift colors so I selected the RGB LED which allows blade colors to be changed. Why the extra money you may say when I could just pick the cheaper one color option and get a different color for each? A fair question my young Jedi. To that I say, a saber staff with two different colors would look stupid.

A saber what? A saber staff, of course. You remember that cool double-bladed lightsaber Darth Maul whipped out like John Holmes on a first date? Yeah, I ordered the coupler like this to screw the two sabers together for when I want to go full retard.

That setup will be HUGE! Here's one guy's rig.

It's going to take like five months to get to me; they are made to order. That should be enough time tho strengthen my taint in preparation for the merciless wedgies I will be in for from the jocks who doubt my midi chlorian count.

How I think I'll look.

How I'll actually look.

To nerd, or not to nerd, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of self delusion,
Or to post on public forum
And by declaring to the world, yes, I am nerd.
No more; and by credit card we say stuff it,
The heart-ache and the thousand on-line jeers
The desire is slaked, I shall go staff slinging merrily.

With apologies to Shakespeare.

She's kind of scary, actually. We were in a Toy store the other day and she picked up one of those el cheapo kid's lightsabers. That's what sort of pushed me that last bit to order a pair, thinking she might really dig playing with these things. I pulled a couple of foam swords off the shelf and tossed her one. Jeez.

I think she's really scared of getting hit, I see it in her eyes and body language. Instead of retreating into defense, though, that she knows I could easily pick apart, she runs towards me in the Toys R Us just swinging wild and it makes her very difficult to parry. She went legit berzerker and charged right through my guard and clocked me in the head really hard. I was almost thinking "where are we at here, honey?"

If it had been real she would have killed me and walked away with some scratches at best! I'm not fanboy enough to know what form that is, but I would call it "drunken Mace Windu" all the fury, none of the skill. I'm more of a fencer like Count Dooku, but she is so bad she's good if that makes sense, like a cornered animal. How do you defend against someone like that?

No bullshit, I think I'm a little intimidated by her. I think she's a Sith.

So, uh, yeah. That's a long time to wait. I hear this other company has crappy soundboards to make the whooshy noises, but builds solid hilts and acceptable blades, but they also deliver very fast compared to the top-level brands like the one I just ordered from. I'm really happy about the Ferrari, but I want to drive something NOW! I'll pick up some Toyotas.

Yeah, just ordered a couple from them with no sound in some of their pretty cool, but not too expensive hilts. One for me, one for Darth Cutiess. And, I sort of ordered another double-bladed too. Same deal, no sound. They had this cool color, too, called Sun Rider's Destiny. Freakin schweet! It looks like this in the dark.

All that came out to about half of the first order. Quality costs money. No lightsabers to at some point five; I think I'm done now. I'm going to go burn my credit card now. Oh, shit, too late!

Why not just get some bokens and save yourself a boatload of money... for $400 you could get a good practical/functional katana or naginata though.
