Anyhoo, doesn't this sound familiar???

New project: "Cable tower". Looking for some info on what a part is called so I can find one online.

The pink line is the cable. When the handle is pulled, the "weight plate carrier" will travel upwards. The "carrier guide" will keep it from swinging or otherwise moving around. The guide will slide on a rod.

I want a bushing in the"carrier guide"(probably one on top and one bottom) so it's not metal on metal. What is the "bushing" called. Where can I find one? Did a Google search for "nylon bushing" but mainly turned up pvc fittings(which may work). What should I be searching for instead? ID should be 1 inch at least IMO.

Ideas? Thoughts? Design ideas? Let's hear it

(I don't know why the image is in landscape, its in portrait on my phone)

I knew this was the right place to ask... so how do you retain them? They don't have a lip and I'd prefer not to have to turn a seat for them

Look in the upper left under "Narrow by" there are flanged options.

If you make your guide a clamp then you will be able to hold the bushings in just by friction. You could install some bolts through the guide to hold the bushings as well but that could be overkill if the clamp force is enough.

I thought about that but it would be a lot more work. I work in a tube steel shop so making things from tube is easy, anything flat is a pain cuz I have to draw and send it off to be cut. I suppose a clamp would allow replacement of the bushings without full disassembly though...

If working with a tube just go with two bolts (each) to secure a split flanged bushing top and bottom. To change the bushings you would just need to remove the bolts, slide them out of the tube, split them and remove them from the shaft. Doubt you would have to replace them often (if ever) though since they really shouldn't take much wear in a hand operated process.

How would the bolts secure the flange?
