Hey bud! Nice build so far! I have a 15 month old girl and I'm loving the car seat! She has yet to ride with her old man, but you've inspired me to give it a go!

I met a guy selling his OFT tablet with UEL header for $400 usd.... You think it's a good deal?

Thanks! it took awhile for my daughter to want to ride in the 86, she was a bit afraid of the engine sound. After I installed the android head unit I got her to sit in the car and watch frozen. Now we go for drives every weekend. She loves it.

That seems like an incredible deal for the tablet and UEL. The tablet itself is almost $400. Just make sure there is nothing wrong with it.

Hope your daughter enjoys riding in your 86!

Open Flash Tablet

My impressions of the Open Flash Tablet and a drop in K&N Filter.

A bit skeptical at first, could a simple tune and filter enhance the car that much, well I am glad to say it does. If I knew I would have purchased it earlier.

I find myself speeding a lot more. I am not a very technical person but I can say that the car is a lot smoother now. It doesn't feel like I am driving thru sand.

The car pulls so much more. Before the flash it felt like a chore to try and pass someone.

The feeling of the pull kinda reminds me a bit of my talon tsi and eclipse gsx back in the day. Maybe not as dramatic but the 86 is definately much more enjoyable to drive. The car should come like this stock.

Thanks Shiv and OFT.

Windows Tinted last Friday

My daughter and I go for saturday drives. I noticed the last time she was in the car the sun was shining on the top of her head. So that was my excuse to get the windows tinted.

I went to a shop on SW Marine drive named "Street Legal" tints. Really good guys and they did a great job.

Went with 18% on the rears and 50% on the sides to blend the tint a bit. Very subtle but I think looks pretty nice.

Talking Random morning coffee thought - Last stage of my build

Random morning coffee thought.

The experience over the last 2 years with the 86 has been the most fun I have had since owning cars. Now I am nearing the end of my build and looking to do one more major mod on the vehicle.

I don't have a problem with the stock power after flashing the ecu with OFT. BUT its always nice to have a bit more on tap if you feel like having a bit of fun.

Love the OFT and want to go either NA or FI that supports OFT.

Deciding between Speed by Design Stage 1 Turbo or Open Flash Header ver3 with InVidia Q300 exhaust.

Reliability is a big factor since its my daily driver. I don't track or autox. I've been reading a lot on the SBD and seems quite reliable...costing almost twice as much. Worried if anything broke down I would be in the shop all the time.

Open flash header 3 and exhaust feels like there wont be any problems. Half the price but would it be enough to put a smile on my face.

Lifes hard deciding between the two haha jk. Or just leave the car alone and call it a day.

If I was in your shoes, I'd try the header first. If that's not enough, 4.5 final drive

Hmmm, good question. If reliability is a big factor I believe a Supercharger will be a better choice. A lot can go wrong with aftermarket turbo's. I'm personally going the Supercharger route.

Also, with headers, you have to remember, generally the car will get much louder. It's the reason why I haven't gone stage 2 on the OFT.

Also, I don't like the idea of removing the cats which a Turbo setup would.

Anyway, just my 2 cents, if you were local i would of loved to get a coffee and talk about this for hours haha

Love chatting about cars. The car being loud is the exact reason why I am holding off on the OFH and Q300. Its very hard to tell from the countless videos I have watched with all types of combinations

I am curious about supercharger as well. Which supercharger are you going with? Would love to hear more about your experience with the install and performance.

What kind of LED strips are those? I don't like modding much but those look really nice.

Stay NA if Reliability is a big issue.
If you go supercharge, I would say HKS v.3 is gonna have the most reliable tune that comes with a kit ( It's already on Version 3 for a reason) then Edelbrock the 2nd most reliable.

PS: mind if I ask which vancouver do you live in? Nvm you said BC on first page.

The LED foglights are like these ones at ft86speedfactory.

If you are referring to the headlights with the LEDs those are winjets.

Really happy with both purchases.

Cheers

Thanks for the info, Its a fun to decide which direction to head towards NA or FI,

I've read every thread possible and I seem to be going in circles. One day I am feeling to go EL headers with a Perrin Resonated 2.5 exhaust. Than I change to UEL.

Once you add up all the costs of Headers/Exhasut.... I'm not too far from SBD Turbo kit (want to stay with OFT) Which is the performance gain that will prob make me smile.

It is hard to tell just by looking at graphs from a dyno how changing the header, exhaust and a tune will feel.

Going to read up on the HKS supercharger and see where that takes me haha
