If I'm not mistaken, the original filters were a carbon filter and look like they are really dirty. Mine was about the same and I've only got about 16K on the odometer.

This is correct they have a grayish color from the charcoal/carbon in them to help capture smells

Wait there are cars in Canada!?!? I always thought they used Moose for transportation...

Moose is used for pulling wagons.

They use dog sleds for light work.

Some automobiles may be found in the large cities.
