No wheel controls was disappointing news but honestly as long as your head unit isnt touch screen and you have some tactile feedback you dont need to concentrate too hard. I can change gears and tracks at the same time pretty easily in my car (probably due to the close proximity of those two devices but my point stands)

and for those planning on fitting "omg sweet nardis" you will be breaking compliance by removing your airbag. just a heads up.
lOl that's why I sold my 350GT although I love it so much......2004 one

Actually, if you want to have a premium/customised number plate, you could order before you get your new car, then dealer doesn't need to register number plate for you. What you/dealer will do is to pick up the number plate you ordered, straightaway install it onto your new car...It is what I am doing.......My car is due in end of July/early August, I have ordered my new number plate 2 weeks ago....

Left foot brake, why are you on this forum if you dont like the car? I would have thought an 86 enthusiast would actually realise the true purpose of the car.

You have completely misunderstood me if you don't think I like the car.

What do you think the purpose of the car in the Australian market is?

Maybe I have misunderstood you. Maybe you are just a disgruntled enthusiast who loves everything else but the interior, but remember, it IS a sub 40K car afterall.

In regards to the Australian market, its a tough question. I think toyota are aiming at a niche somewhat, but at the same time they want to get those people who would buy something like a celica (I wouldnt call these people enthusiasts) interested as well. hence the gay wheels and soft clutch etc.

So in answer to your question, the purpose of this car in the Australian market is to both sell cars, and to give the enthusiasts who have been missing out on affordable RWD sports cars for 30 years something to rave about.

It's a bit like the crowd who don't think this car should come with an option to select gears by using a flappy paddle. I think they're sadly mistaken as a result of being too narrow minded regarding the target demographics of the product.

I don't know what a "nardi DD" is, sorry. But I can assure you that they are not pointless for the majority. That's why the majority (all except the 86?) of cars at this price point have them.

If we wanted pure track day cars, we wouldn't be buying brand new cars, surely? Performance can be added relatively cheaply to second hand platforms. Instead, I pay for a brand new design that gets the balance between the various dimensions right. I'm not suggesting they haven't done a sterling job with this car. They have. And that's why I preordered one at the start of the year. But I'm also not suggesting it's anything like done yet. Particularly the interior. Having said all that, the GTS interior I have seen is a bit better than what I was actually anticipating, given the FR-S photos on this forum.
Hey buddy. wasnt picking on you. but my view is shared by many as we have witnessed. Nardi DD means nardi deep dish. its what us track junkies use. I use to drift I now hit up the local tracks every fortnight. timeattack is what im about now.. lap after lap attacking the clock.. this will suit me nicely. quick lap times isnt about power, or AWD. its about balance, mechanical grip, steering feedback and consistency. the 86 should hit this right on the head

Also in the mini, it was $700 for the replacement part, not including install.

Electric seats in a 2dr coupe is USELESS. They take too long to move around.

I sat in the GT yesterday. I didn't mind it at all. I'll be driving the GTS on saturday.
yeah electric seats take too long imo in a coupe itll be a bit hard to get into the back comfortably.. that said porsche does it.

The electric seat in my Honda is a pain in the ass for getting people in the back. It's even worse because my current back seat is usable.

Mark - doubtful it will take a supra boss kit. I would be more inclined to think maybe an impreza one
I guarantee my nardi is smaller than the one pictured, and I don't even know the size of the one pictured lol

I am not a fan of Nardi wheels for circuit stuff. I can see why people like them for drifting since they are perfectly round, but I use a Sparco 330 in my track supra and love it!

I really dont see why you'd change the factory 86 wheel though, its perfect!

Nardi - I thought either that or 360. Mine is definitely smaller. Mind you, so is my car :P
Mark - What sort of car did you used to drift?? And how long ago? There is a fair chance we may have crossed paths at some stage. I used to drift regularly too.

All about cutting the weight , plus stitching matches interior and if uve ever owned a Nardi steering wheel ull know there is nothing like them. Pure quality.. First thing I bought for the car and I ain't even got the car until October lol, 350mm deep dish with perforated leather. Apparently there illegal on street cars though but always come down to who pulls u over. I know the boys in blue hate quick
Releases.. That was the second thing I got lol..

You will find that they are illegal because of the exposed metal spokes AND because you have to remove the airbag. Two reasons why they are illegal on a new car.
But, I agree that they are awesome Had one on my AE86 and have one on my mira. And have imported several from japan in the last few years
