Yes and no. If you want to ball out by yourself on a giant Global Hawk or G650 yes. If you and 8 or 10 friends fill up a small turboprop or jet and split the costs it's not really much more than an airline ticket.

I've never thought about that. It would be a really fun way to travel.

Back-in-the-day, I could make a phone call and a company plane would meet me at the San Jose airport............

Where did my career take a bad turn ........

Yep, sure did, but they wouldn't let me take my company plane with me ......

Reminds me of a back-in-the-day-story ..... get your

It was back in the 60's and I was something like manager of agricultural research for the western US for a large chemical company.

We contracted with several University researchers to conduct research on experimental pesticides.

Every fall, I would lay on the King Air for a few weeks and we would take them, one plane load at a time, picking them up near their homes, down to Cabo San Lucas for a "scientific conference"....... and deep sea fishing.......

The "air strip" in Cabo was a sloping, dirt strip, on the top of a small plateau. The terminal was a thatched hut ..... transportation was by cab that would come up when he saw the dust flying in the strip.

Now, back then, Cabo was a small, sleepy fishing village, with one civilized hotel (where you could drink the water). No TV, no radio (English speaking) and no telephones. We could go to what we called "the radio shack" and they could patch us into a LL (land line) to the states.

For the first three weeks, were going fine ........ until the Mexican government tried to confiscate our plane, claiming we were competing with the Mexican airlines.

So, that ended our fun trips into Mexico ......

They were idiots cutting off their noses to spite their faces. I'm sure the locals were thrilled to lose your business.

Yep, especially since we occupied about a third of the only hotel there (The Hacienda) and chartered a bunch of their fishing boats.

Speaking of that ....... wanna hear some of my fishing stories ??....... I thought not ........ but I'll bet ol @Tcoat would ......

It was a bright, sunny day, using fish bigger than I ever caught in the Midwest ... for bait ......... when the line snapped off the outrigger and .......oh, sorry ....... you never said you wanted to hear about it .....

Must get to bed got a big day tomorrow, 2 granddaughters are sleeping over tonight because their mother, our daughter, is going to have another baby tomorrow (so it is scheduled).

(oh, I hope they don't start fighting about what they are going to wear tomorrow) ........ boys were easier ...... they just didn't give a shit!

The gagging sounds he was making didn't sound too pleasant.

Technically, I could order a 2017 86 right now. I just wouldn't know how much it costs until the pricing updates. But I could order it right now.
