Twas a weird feeling. Then I remembered that feeling keeping aware of surroundings in fear of pickpocketers or other suspicious activities/persons.

Miss just driving up, it's like 2am and it's pretty packed with people lol my fault for going cheap on this, I wasn't willing to pay so much for a flight or the train.

Yeah but he knows all about gearboxes & how to read the codes on his jeep so he's way more advanced than we are.

It was almost midnight and just got done with a concert, wearing almost head to toe anime stuff. Sketchy people approaching me, thought I was going to get stabbed in the middle of downtown seattle lol.

Was too cheap to pay for event parking, never again am I doing that.

Thats what I get for being Asian

Ungrateful people I tell yah, I'm surprised he was still getting help considering his initial attitude. I would've just told him to sell his car and get that civic he mentioned.

That one is nothing. Did you see the "why does my mpg reading jump around so much ?" Thread before it was deleted?
Positively one of the worst I have ever read.

Yup, saw that one too but didn't really read into it. I know where people are coming from since I've been there (and is still there somewhat) but holy fuck, do some reading!!!

Perhaps its my IT background (or my personality) but I like to search for a an answer to my questions first before reaching out for help.

Oh too bad you didn't read it through. It took a bizarre twist that really made the first post make sense.

Living in bad neighborhoods all my life
Reminds me of back-in-the-day ( time) working at The Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute on the south side of Chicago.

Now, that ya'll are sufficiently impressed, I'll tell the story ......

I lived inside the loop (downtown) and took the "L" train out to work. Now the "L" is not always elevated and sometimes it goes underground. My first trip from work to my hotel room, after I checked out through security, passed the double bullet proof glass doors, and was escorted about a half block to the "L" station, I sensed that it was a rough part of town.

So, all dressed up in a suit, carry bag and briefcase, I missed the station where I was to get off and popped up in another station in an even worse part of town.

I could see where I wanted to go and started walking (after all, I was a trained killer - right?). I hadn't taken a half dozen steps when a Chicago Police car pulled up and asked me what the hell I thought I was doing. I explained where I was going.

The two cops insisted that I get into there police car and they drove me to the front door of my hotel. They told me that they NEVER wanted to see me in that part of town again dressed like that!

That was an interesting year ..........

I'd be paranoid of the cops and getting into their car.. probably thinking it was an attempted kidnapping.

One of these days (or nights), I'm going to walk out to a dead car.

Keep leaving on the damn dome light on. I know it eats up very little power but it adds up over time.

A buddy of mine worked at IIT and Fermi back in the 90s and his wife worked at UofC. They lived in the neighbourhood just north (?) of the university that was patrolled by the university cops. We went to visit them once. It was a really nice area and I felt comfortable walking around in it. But crossing the major street that borders the area, you could feel the change. Suddenly I didn't feel safe, even though it didn't actually look any different.
