Race fuel
For people with supercharger and or turbo. Do you run race fuel at the track? Im tuned on 94 but have not been on the track yet since supercharging the car (fear of it blowing up) Anyone track their car and run race fuel? If so, where do you get it and what kind are you running? From my understanding: 100oct will protect my motor from knock and ECU wont pull timing as it gets hotter. Granted i wont make any additional power with 100oct but i will maintain power levels as it temps rise on the track.

I used to mix in some Sunoco 260 GTX, 98 octane, just for peace of mind. Once I finally got some good track day logging done, I realized I didn't need to. My car is still NA, though.
I got the gas from a station out in St. Mary's. Can't remember the name. You can go to www.racegas.com/fuelfinder to find your closest station/dealer of the Sunoco fuels. |

I race mine on 94 with methanol injection. Could also use water injection to cool down. Definitely easier to find.

If you're heat soaking to the point of timing being pulled back, adding octane is just a band aid as well. You'll want to keep heat in check first. Quote:

At the same time i dont understand why being tuned on 100oct is any different then 94 (besides power). Would it provide more protection even if timing and such has been adjusted to maximize power on 100? |

If Sasha suggested running race gas on the track, I'd listen to him. Might be worth asking what octane he suggests, 100 is less of a difference than jumping up to 110 from 94. You could also ask for a less aggressive tune that's safer for track use if you don't want to have to source race gas. Race gas is significantly more expensive than 94 pump.
