What's the best 3" cat back for most HP gains with stock everything and no tune? Looks and sound aren't priority. My research so far is showing the Perrin SS would be the one to get. I'm from Cali and don't want to deal with any fix-it tickets so the furthest I'll go is a cat-back and probably a carb-legal CAI or SRI.

You're going to see negligible, if any, gains performance wise with a catback besides weight reduction honestly, especially without a tune or other mods.

Thanks!

Sharpest777 Thank you for the video. Your method of recording the exhaust for a BRZ should be the standard. Also, very nice written narrative to go along with the video. As of this moment, I am going to get the Borla. It seems to meet all of my primal needs with-out drawing too much attention. :-)

Installed the Perrin 2.5" Resonated catback exhaust last weekend and finally got a chance to compile my video footage together. It's a good comparison of the stock/OEM exhaust vs. the Perrin piece.

It gave a really nice mild volume increase with a deeper/sportier tone, which is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect for those who are seeking a fairly "mature" exhaust note. I disliked how quiet the stock exhaust was and this gives it that little bit of kick it should have came from the factory with.

Seems to be the case. If you don't want loud it's usually best to just leave the front pipe alone.

sound difference catless uel/catted uel

So I'm putting on a catless uel header sometime in the next couple weeks.

I have an Invidia N1 right now and I know for sure I'm going to get rid of it because it'll be loud/too droney for my taste...

I was looking for UEL/catback combinations on YouTube and came accross this video:

catted uel + stock op + motiv catted fp + stock cbe

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP-dvUp4OCo"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP-dvUp4OCo[/ame]

Will a catless UEL produce a similar sound? If not I'll probably just go catless uel + stock op/fp + q300/trd

I have a similar setup UEL catless headers + berk catted fp + greddy sp catback

Sounds similar but mine is much louder and deeper than that one.
