this is kind of a stretch for NorCal, but maybe someone will do it... I considered it. Lithia Subaru in Reno has a SWP BRZ Limited 6MT coming any day now, not spoken for. ETA 6/20.

Positive:
They said they will sell at MSRP. No markups

Negative:
they ask for $1000 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit to reserve it.
Car has several port options that made me turn it down.
- the Popular package 1 (he didn't say a or b, but assume 1b)
- chrome gas cap
- rear body diffuser (yeah the $750 option).

if it didn't have the last 2 I would probably have gone for it.
total MSRP price $29707.

Piercy in Milpitas has a Silver Auto allocation that is un-spoken for.

Being a professional sales person this shit really pisses me off. I hope no one buys it.

Maybe we should make a list of dealers that are selling at MSRP!? I bought mine at Piercy in Milpitas and paid MSRP.

^Indeed. If people do just a bit of searching and calling they can find an FRS at MSRP with none or only a few not-too-bad extras attached

I called just about every bay area Scion and Subaru dealer. Piercy was by far the easiest to work with but had good luck with Sunnyvale also.

Stevens Creek Subaru tried to sell me on $2.5K over MSRP without even adding anything. Just calling it a "market adjustment," LOL.

Last Saturday (06/16), Stevens Creek Scion had an Asphault Gray FR-S 6MT. It had been there for two weeks with no sale. They were willing to knock off the add-ons and sell at MSRP.

They also had a Red AT FR-S with add-ons. I bought this car for my son. I paid MSRP for the car, but wanted the add-ons for my kid.

BTW, we'll be out at Cars & Coffee at Santana Row this morning (06/23). C&C has been relocated from the usual spot for the past few years to the parking lot of the Century Theater across the street (I think it's Century).

BTW

I've never heard of a John who works at Putnam/Burlingame. Also, I would expect an experienced rep would've left their work number which usually begins with (650)-373, but since it's Craigslist it might be due to informality.

ALSO the sales manager dislikes/discourages the FR-S Craigslist ads. Maybe he's new? It's a bit strange. I know all of the veteran Salesmen there, I've known them before kindergarten, and I'm in 2nd year college now.

*edit Just looked at their online page, and there's no John, which could either mean it's a nickname or a new guy.

http://www.putnamtoyota.com/bay-area...toyota-dealers

ALSO

My dad sold all of the first 3 FR-S's with the leather in 3 selling days. Currently, he's the only salesman from his dealership to sell an FR-S.

They will their FR-S, and a few people from this forum have already contacted him. (Thanks btw!) My dad has been there for close to 17 years now, this kind of thing isn't new. In fact, he says this is just like how MR2's were.

ALSO

Dealerships who are doing this want profit, no doubt. But when the profit is just as much as a Prius and an equipped Corolla, it's understandable. In the end, someone is going to walk...I mean DRIVE away with it happily. Who cares who it is, as long as they sign the papers off happily.

If you're not buying the car, there's no need to attack a dealership. Especially Putnam...that's like a second home to me so I take it personal. Even the other dealers, everyone shops for a car differently. Everyone sells a car differently.

If you're interested in an FR-S it is true that Putnam has a whiteout MT with Leather. No front plate currently. The leather is nice, I heard it has the FR-S logo. We had our leather done in our car from the same guys. Black and perforated and it still smells good until this day when it was done over 7 years ago.

Putnam will also be selling FR-S's without leather, of course. That's when more come in.

Thanks everyone, happy driving!

PS. If I were a manager for any dealership, I would've offered the car bone stock just because I understand the heritage/driver's car discourse. In other words I'm one who's not in favor of any kind of mark-ups but I don't criticize other dealerships for doing so. I let it go.
I don't care what you say, a dealer adding leather and charging more is a sleeze sales tactic to add more GP to the car. They should be selling the car for MSRP to the people patiently waiting in line to buy it. Instead they are trying to cram in extra profit and have it up on CL waiting for some moron with a little extra cash to buy it, depriving someone who really wants the car from getting it.

That's fine, and I understand but unfortunately dealers will not try to fix something that isn't broken. It's the invisible hand at work again.

If people want it for MSRP,they can wait...you even said it yourself ...

Other BA dealers will have it for MSRP. Juicyjosh from City Toyota/Scion has been selling his for a great price from what I've seen. Piercy Toyota is reputable as well!
