I just broke the 1,000 mile mark and it's nice to feel that power high in the rev range. This little engine does come to life when you wind it up enough.

Car still brings a smile to my face whenever I see it...

Only thing I kind of regret is taking off the front tints and replacing the poorly aimed HID headlights, which were installed by previous owner, with the stock headlights within the first week of ownership because I was so weary of getting pulled over and driving a non-road compliant vehicle in NJ...

Whatever though, overall I'm satisfied...

Funny you should ask.

RWD. Light weight. Paddles and mild exhaust upgrade combo. Sexy, exotic lines. Etcetera.

I'm addicted, and looking for any and no excuse to go for a blast.

Here's how satisfied I am - if I won ten million bucks tomorrow, I would of course buy a couple of other cars I've lusted after. But the BRZ would get some boost, and I'm willing to bet, might even be the car of choice most days.

Having hit a plateau in my build, I can say I'm still satisfied with it. Though I wasted money on some useless "mods" such as the lightweight pulleys, or even a body kit, I can't help but enjoy the way the car drives with a supercharger. Unless Cosworth comes out with another stage kit, I see no reason to add more to it. I can die a happy man now

Been daily driving this bad boy and yes it's a slowmatic I'm pretty darn happy I'm getting 31.6 mpg for my 75% highway and 25% city driving, fuel economy and fun factor best of both worlds.

You should try driving in sports mode for a while and play round with gear changes via the paddles. The computer won't let you up or down shift if it believes it to be a bad idea. Its a very different experience and yes kiss that fuel economy goodbye if it becomes a regular thing!

After 18 or so months I can't stand regular mode. The throttle response, gear breaking, more aggressive noise all equates to a more involving ride in everyday street driving.

Couple of mods and your slowmatic will beat the snot out of a stock manual.

So.. I completely forgot today is the 1 year anniversary of when I bought the car!

Now, where do I start??

This is my very first sports car that opened the door into another hobby, the s2k being the car that got me into cars initially. Never really liked cars until I saw a yellow s2k while riding the bus, and didn't know what the hell a Twin was until I saw the yellow FRS in the Toyota showroom.

After a year of ownership, I'm still smiling as much as I was when the sales dude tossed me the keys and I drove it off the lot. Since day 1, I've learned so much about the car world, and still learning everytime I log onto this forum. I recall creating a long list of stuff that I wanted to do to the car before buying it but one year later... its still mostly stock! 1 reason is due to me wanting to pay off the car as fast as possible, which I did last month. 2nd reason is because the car is already a hoot from factory. Compared to my old shitty Corolla, this car is fast (and better looking). I rode in a turbo'ed Twin and while that made me giggle like a little school girl, I have other future financial priorities to take care of... plus I'm hooked on auto-x now and itll bump me into a class where I know I won't be competitive in. (more on that later).

Driving the car is so much fun. Daily driving, spirited driving, competition events, doesn't matter because its so fun to toss around and it makes you work for your goal. I don't know if I can get into a car that has sloppy handling now... who knows, I'll see when I get to that point.

Appearance. What's new to say about the car that's 4 years old now? I'll echo what someone said that there's nothing else good looking in the sub 50k range. Still turning heads, even when the car is splattered with mud and bugs. I still look back when walking away from the car.

Practicality. I'm a single dude. What else is there to say? Though there was this one time where I bought some Ikea stuff and it was a bit sketchy hauling around a cabinet... barely fit but made it work.

Power. Extremely glad I listened to the wise, experienced members of the forum when I first joined. I wanted a turbo in the first month of the car. Going on my very first drive after breaking the car in, I quickly learned where the car wants to be to maintain use all 200 horses. Will I be able to keep up with a Mustang or Porsche? Hell no. But that's fine. I'm happy with where the car is at right now - and possibly for the future.

I entered my first auto-x event after essentially being pressured into joining. It was ok, I didn't hate it. But I entered my second one earlier this year. I was hooked. So much fun actually learning the strengths and weaknesses the car has. Right now, its still mostly the driver - which is still getting worked on at every event Going back to an earlier statement, really glad I didn't get a turbo because that would bump me into a higher class when I'm out of novice where I won't be no where near competitive unless I want to shell out $$$$$$.. which I don't want to do in complete honesty. So the class I'm aiming to move to, its still mostly stock engine wise with some suspension/tire/wheel work allowed.

Final thoughts. I don't know what else to say! I made more friends in 1 year (on and off this forum) than I made back in all of my years of schooling. Can't believe some piece of painted metal that runs on fossil fuel can bring opposite people together for an afternoon drive or simply sitting around and eating lunch. But that pretty much goes for anything, eh?

Here's to another year (and more) of great things to come!

Overall, I'm pleased. I've gotten to know a great group of folks locally and have started participating in HPDE and autocross, which has been a blast. However, if I was to do it all over again, I would've bought something else - most likely the Cayman I was looking for prior to pulling the trigger on this. I still think it's maybe 8/10ths a Cayman, but in searching for that remaining 2/10ths, I've somewhat ruined the BRZ. It now rides harshly and is obnoxiously loud. It's a blast to drive in autox and bombing down a back road, but is a bit rough around the edges for commuting now. I'm not going to get rid of it, but if I could go back in time and buy something else, I think I would.

^If you are thinking of eventually going for a Cayman, get in now before the 718s with their turbocharged 4-bangers hit - they sound like #$%^ . (Or buy used.)
