I have the Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ on stock rims. Dumped the stock tired at 5/32nds. They're pretty good and they handle pretty much like stock except you lose the play/slip. They have a 45,000 mile tread life warranty. They are much quieter over stock, mpg does drop by around 2 mpg, and in the wet they're amazing. They are UHP All Season not UHP Summer,I got these for about 530 mounted, but that was because of some promotion. If you get it non-promotion it's like 700-800. MPSS I was quoted 600 OTD but ran into an issue with stock.

I've loved my 225 Hankook RS3, if it's not your daily driver, I'd consider getting something closer to a 200 treadwear and really enjoying the turns when you take it out.

I just got a set of yokohama advan ad08r in Stock size. $191 per tire came out to over $700, but discount tire had $240 in rebates it's a deal I could not pass up. I currently have Michelin pilot super sport that are at the wear bars at 15k miles. Overall good street tire. They are mostly quiet and comfortable. Sidewall is a little on the soft side and is real sensitive to tire pressure. Too much pressure and they feel floaty with less road feel. Too little pressure and steering isn't as communicative. I also noticed that traction control would enable more often whenever I pushed the car. Overall, I think the MPSS are good street tires if you care about a combination of comfort and grip, but I want a tire that's more confidence inspiring with a stiffer sidewall. I'm hoping the AD08s will do just that.

Soft side wall. Compared to what?

Tires with stiffer sidewalls than MPSS are Falken Azenis RT615's, Bridgestone re050a's, Nitto NT05, and Advan A032r's. Those are the tires that I have had experience with on my BRZ and previous cars I have owned.I would say the sidewall on the MPSS is slightly stiffer than the stock primacy tires, but with much more grip. There is always a compromise with tires. MPSS is much more comfortable than the tires listed above, but somewhat lack the instantaneous direct feel of a tire with stiffer sidewalls.
