So this is what it's like when adults act like children....

I get the frustration though, zoomzoomers makes a great point. It makes no sense that Subaru can't give SOME sort of ETA. Everyone who ordered in March should have a VIN by now at the least. Really crappy position to be in

On the other hand, let's act like adults. It's fine to be upset about it but are you really gonna threaten to sue/call in the local news team? Really? Isn't there a war going on?

It's better to not offer a date, then to provide one and have any number of a million things delay it and have a customer complaining about the date they were given.

Subaru (Japan) themselves should be able to give you this. They have to know what their production numbers are like right? Let's be real here, they MUST have a way to give an ETA +/- 7 days if they really wanted to.

I do agree though, giving a specific date as an ETA is a pretty bad idea.

Lol I could see Subaru sending me an e-mail on the 17th saying my car will be here between the 10th and 24th....

It would go great with the "Enjoy your new all wheel drive Subaru!" ending on the email.

This is too funny LOL. Just think of it this way all the little bugs would be ironed out given most of the online assemblers would have had to go thru a learning scheme.

Maybe i shouldnt have posted as i might get sued

Subaru builds batches of BRZs and puts them on boats and it is only after they get off the boat that your dealer gets to pick one out and assign your order to it. Once the demand dies down and production catches up to demand, you will be able to see your order go through the whole process, so if you want that level of detail wait another year and try again.

^^^ For both the comments above. Then SOA should not have given a buyer a VON. PERIOD!

I agree completely with your first statement.

You're the lucky one then. I was one of the very first to put in my order with Irvine Subaru (the largest Subaru dealership in SoCal) and still nothing.

In some states it is a contract and the only reason you can get a deposit back is in the event a dealership can not secure a loan from anyone once the car has been delivered.

Regardless, any type of suit will only fly against dealerships. I believe I mentioned that in the post.

First let's assume that the pre order is in fact a contract to purchase a vehicle that is unbreakable (which isn't true, but let's assume it is).

The contract is with the *dealership*, not Subaru of America, SDC, SNE, etc. The pre order did NOT include a delivery date, which means the contract has *not* been breached. The car will be delivered as per ithe defined schedule which was released to dealers (and indirectly to the rest of us) in February.

Not to mention the completely pointless nature of a CAL (unless you are a lawyer anyways).

Cliff Notes: No contract really exists, and even if it does, it hasn't been breached.

When in doubt....

SUE!!!!!!

I hate class action lawsuits.. Wanna know why? Because rarely do the victims (not that I consider the OP to be a victim) get the compensation they deserve. But the lawyers sure do....

And it just jacks up insurance rates, price of manufacturing, etc for consumers...

In some cases yes, but it can be cancelled by either party, it's written in the contract. Until payment is made anyways.

And without a date in the contract, there is still no breach of contract.

I guess you misunderstood, it will be 16 weeks since i ordered and I still have no updates or projected ETA....wait list is a bad word in my vocabulary, I snap at friends when they ask where my car is...
