Product Description
The latest generation of V6 engines from GM have set the bar for performance and efficiency. The LFX is a DOHC 60 degree V6 rated at 320hp and 278lbs-ft and is used in many late model GM vehicles in different variants. With a 7200rpm redline it matches closely to the Mazda BP engines. Direct fuel injected(flex fuel) and integrated exhaust manifolds should make for a 50 state CARB certifiable conversion. More info on the LFX .
Our first thought on the conversion… AWESOME! The car brings OEM drive ability with a smooth like stock feeling transmission and 7200rpm redline. The reliable 300+ hp and quick revving makes the car an absolute rocket ship. We were able to knock roughly 35lbs off the factory curb weight and retain a 52/48 distribution.
With a base line tune the car averaged close to 30mpg round trip. With additional tuning and final adjustments to the intake and exhaust systems we are confident we can exceed 30mpg for cruising. Part of the trip was working towards meeting California ARB standards. We’ve made a lot of head way here and it’s looking very positive.

This is what v8roadster.com has posted for the swap in a Miata.

I'll check out the LFX a little further. I've heard a lot of bad about the earlier non-DI version but not good or bad about the new DI one so maybe they're better than I assumed. It would be much easier than the 2GR because it's already commonly available RWD and manual. They're everywhere here. I don't mind running the factory GM ECU, as long as it doesn't have a fit with all the missing stuff from the donor car and as long as it's flashable to at least disable cat converter codes etc.

No I know, dw lol
Honestly everyone should just agree with him about the EZ30 (since thats obviously all he keeps talking about) and sit back and wait for him to do it lol.
I'm so over the engine swap section of this forum.

Oh I thought you meant me! Lol well he's just looking for the right answer for him and reassurance. Nobody is going to have the perfect car. But everyone wants the best they can achieve. Hell I'd be mad if I spent 6000 grand on a supercharger and this includes running bolt one e85... Etc and only achieved 300 whp and less torque than a v6 swap. On the same note I've seen people rush and swap something when there was obviously a better choice.

I didn't have my mind made up. I have more so now but definitely looking into the LFX too. I simply asked right from the beginning about V6 and H6 options. I have always had my mind made up about that but it keeps getting off topic when talk of LSs and forced induction comes in.

I'm open to discussion about EZ30 vs another H6 or V6 (as per my original post).

The hell with it.

You cannot be educated.

If you ever complete the swap, properly documented, everything working, I'll paypal you 50 bucks.

It's a pretty safe bet that it never happens.

Good luck with the ECU. Let me know what you do about the fuel system. I'm out.

Read that.

Vaya con dios
I read the link it said the ls weight was 284.5 kg. so 284.5x2.2(lbs)=625.9lbs with tranny then you stated 128lbs for tranny so 629.5-128=497.9lbs so remind me again who is right?

I'm liking the idea of the LFX. It seems that they've come a long way since the LY7, which wasn't a great motor. It's going to be an easy and cheap option because they are ridiculously common in the Commodore SV6 here and in manual too. I can modify the sump to get it low if need be. I wonder if that would be enough to clear the bonnet ("hood" in America talk)? Time to get some measurements I think. It seems that HPTuners VCM Suite can disable the anti-theft stuff. I'll do a bit more research as to what other dependence on the donor vehicle body can be eliminated or circumvented.
