Definitely some much more exciting races of late. Sucks that they keep wanting to bring more aero back just as they get more driving battles.

I love both Indy and F1 for different reasons. Indy generally provides a better overall product/entertainment from race to race. F1 gets that engineering bug of mine....they just need more contact racing and rules that let them bring cars back on the track and refire to keep going like Indy.

It boggles my mind with how much money is spent on an F1 car that they don't refire them and keep them racing if not only to make the spectacle better. I do wish Indy would bring back some standing starts but they are definitely gun shy since the 2014 Indy GP start with that horrendous crash after the pole sitter stalled it and was smashed to pieces from behind by a back marker that wasn't paying attention.

Ricciardo drove a better race, as well as qualifying. Don't get me wrong, Max did amazingly well for his first time in the new car/team, but the win was was more due to getting lucky with the strategy.

I'd have to disagree I wouldn't call it lucky. Maybe more the team then him, yeah, but not luck. And if Ricciardo had really driven that good of a race, he would have beaten Vettel who was on the same strategy (ignoring the puncture).

Max did a great job to manage his tires while keeping Kimi behind.

Also, when Vettel came in only 3 laps after Max on the extra stop strategy, I knew which strategy was going to win it. Before that, I was feeling bad for Max that RB was kinda screwing him on strategy. I don't think Ferrari (or Red Bull) thought they have to get off the Softs so soon.

Amazing how much better the races are when mercs aren't in it... Maybe they should take another 50 year hiatus.

It was the team's decision to give what ultimately ended up being the better strategy to Verstappen. If Ricciardo was on the same strategy, he would have almost certainly finished ahead. Sure, Max did a great drive, but he was just following orders when to pit, so yes, that's a stroke of luck for him.

Also lucky for the team as well, as many people though (like Martin Brundle) that there was a high chance that the tires wouldn't last to the end of the race on a two-stop.

How about someone comment on the race? Second race in a row Ricciardo gets "screwed" as he so eloquently put it. Max looking like a young-in again, Perez sneaking a podium.
Alonso holding on to 5th and even making a gap on Rosberg once it started to rain again. Seriously Rosberg is such a tool, even managed to lose 6th at the finish line. Sauber drivers being total idiots and Kvyat not doing himself any favours with his actions in the race.

Rossi wins Indy 500.... damn shame this guy doesn't have a F1 seat, I don't think either Wehrlein or Haryanto have anything on him, too bad we'll probably never find out.

For Ricciardo, it's actually the 3rd race in a row he's had really shitty luck if you include the Kyvat dumbfuckery in Russia

I have a feeling Ricciardo will take P1 in Canada. Ferrari simply isn't having any luck this year and the cars seems to be regressing. I wish Vettel would have stayed with Redbull, going through a few challenging years to be back on top...

Massively impressed with Haas. Really hope they can continue marching towards improvement, I've always been a Grosjean fan and think he deserves the equipment to be a championship contender. I don't think he's got the talent to be a multiple WDC, but certainly the skill and capability to snag one if everything swings his way and be constantly in play for podium.

They haven't lucked their way into it, qualifying times on par with the likes of Mclaren, Williams, Renault, etc. in season 1 is no mean feat.

I should probably watch a race again, but NBC 'Sports' is crap, they'll cut out 5 laps for commercials and have to explain a lead change when they come back based on the half hour of Monaco I watched on Sunday.

Does anyone have any insight on the future of the US Grand Prix in Austin? I want to travel to see it hopefully next year but I'm afraid it will be removed.

I'd be awesome if they'd make Monaco a Saturday race to give the F1 drivers a chance to fly over and drive the 500 all in the same weekend. Heck if someone was really crazy and they tried the 600 as well you could end up with a new version of a triple crown.

Unfortunately, F1 is pretty unpredictable in that sense these days. Other than Monaco, I wouldn't book flights for any Grand Prix before the final, official calendar is published (late fall?). Even then, sometimes it's not a done deal.

It's not too late for this year though.
