I like everything that they have done to it. Would I trade mine in for one? Probably not. The only thing that is high on my want list is those brembos. I'd assume the track package is going to be positioned about the limited which would pushing it to almost the $30k range.

But all that aside, its I'm glade to see that they are still working with the platform and updating it. All the updates seem to address alot of complaints about it. I hope the platform stays relevant for a second generation.

The Brembo/BBS package for the Miata Club is $3400. Even at a discount, I would expect it is going to be well over $2k if not $3k given the "special" wheels and sachs shocks the performance pack receives. My guess would be that it is roughly the same price as the package on the Miata.

I kinda wish that it was just a package that you can place on any trim, placing something like that on a premium would be great for people who want the car for more motorsport that a limited one. In the end I think I just like the option to choose, too bad.

The changes are laughable in my opinion.

The BRZ already had plenty of braking power - optional Brembos aren't going to improve anything at the track unless you're already running far beyond stock power levels. And the BRZ also already had fantastic handling chops - all they really needed to do is offer a revised suspension paired with stickier rubber.

I'm curious to see a comparison of dyno sheets for the revised FA20 and original FA20 to see what's changed. Because it costs a lot of time and money to make such moderate changes to the engine. You know, money like what a lot of BRZ defenders claim Subaru doesn't have for, giving us a boosted BRZ from the factory.

There's good reason the majority of car enthusiasts make fun of every little update this car receives because the only one it really needs is a turbo or a higher displacement (2.5 liter) engine. It's good to see Subaru not letting it wither on the vine, but it's almost comically bad how little Subaru seems to care about this car. The parallels to Honda's treatment of the S2000 are soaked with irony (and tears).

I think we would like to see the car as a budget Cayman or a legitimate Z fighter however it appears to me that Subaru and Toyota see the car as one that competes primarily with the Miata. The changes for the 2017 cement my opinion here.

Sadly I don't think internet grumbling is going to change their market for the car.

I agree. I'm sure Subaru already knows that people want more power but they continue to not do so for their reasons. Yet people still keep bringing up the topic rather than being happy about their ride. (I get it but dont want to keep reading about it everyday ) Love it for what it is!

I guess I'm fortunate then that I never considered it any of these three things. The specs told me it wasn't a budget Caymen/Z fighter and I never considered (or would consider) a Miata so didn't need an alternative to it.

In the end, I saw (and purchased) the 86 for exactly what it is, a throwback RWD good looking basic sports car that didn't cost an arm and a leg to purchase or maintain.

I remain happily entrenched in that illusion.

I miss my 13 BRZ. Been driving an STi and WRX since I traded it, so I can't complain. I might come back for this version though. Something to be said for that beautiful balance and handling. Sure the STi/WRX can out accelerate the BRZ, but most of the power can't be legally used on a day to day basis. I had more fun driving the BRZ...we'll see what plays out. (Although it will be hard to give up the AWD in the winter. If I could somehow convince the wife to drive the WRX and trade her Tiguan for a BRZ, now that would be cool. She's a teacher so school gets cancelled when it snows which would allow me to take the WRX to work and keep the BRZ safe in the garage...)

I feel the same way. I need the practicality of the WRX though, and negative equity is a bitch ha ha.

Please elaborate on why it "needs" a turbo or higher displacement.

To brag about and compensate for low self-esteem of course! haven't you been paying attention in the other thread?

Ya know, sometimes ya just need something to brag about to feel better - human 'needs'. LOL. i'm human - i admit it.

but i don't do that whole asian parent reverse brag thing: "oh johnny he give us so much worry. study all the time. we tell him little boy need to play and be well-rounded but he like to get good grade so he study study study. he so proud and happy when he score 100% in test and get best grades in class, so it make it hard for us to tell him to stop. we worry he not fit in and other kids jealous because he so smart. kids - so much worry. "

if i brag, i just plain ol' come out with it. 'oh yeah? others go to 10, but THIS one goes to 11'.
