Wear stock out. Can you run the 71R all year? I doubt it, meaning you'll need to figure out what class you really want and get new wheels for the summer tires.

So I seriously just had a "because racecar" experience on facebook. Kid posts to one of the groups a duck tail spoiler and a huge wing, complete with scaffolding, asks which one we prefer. Turns out he actually wants the bigger wing "because it looks like a racecar." It was a that point I realized I was talking with a kid (probably early 20s). Sheesh.

oh good point. I live in Ga so snow or cold weather tire performance is not a concern of mine.

Saw what looked to be a completely stock FR-S with a giant race wing at the grocery store a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't seen it in the area before. I drove by really slow and identified stock wheels and stock exhaust, with no other aero. I can also only assume they were stock tires too. He hadn't done anything to it other than give it a massive wing.

Is that better or worse than one of the guys in my area who is hella slammed, stretched skinny tires, rocket bunny kit + wing, giant anime vinyls, and has done 0 performance mods?

Who cares? It's his car. As an 86 its gonna be slow no matter what. At least he didn't spend $5000 on a turbo he can't/won't use

I don't mean any disrespect to his car. It's his and he can do whatever he wants just comparing to another car that might go down the same road

If real life was like forza and I could instantly swap paint/graphics I would have all kinds of vinyls/paint colors on my car for a day or two

I did finally get around to buying my AEM failsafe and oil pressure gauges so I am almost ready to use my hibernating turbo :P

I'd say better because honestly, the wing didn't look all that bad and to the uninitiated it probably looks "proper" because the car looks a lot faster than it is. Your normal appliance driver might see the car and think, "Why is that racecar on the road?" without knowing it's completely stock. Meanwhile, while they might think the same thing about the slammed car, it stands out a lot more than a stock car with a wing. And while the uninitiated don't care, the initiated might be more offended that the slammed car can't go fast than that the winged car is otherwise stock.

And it's all a trick for the appliance drivers anyways. All 86s are slow, even the turbo ones. They are just less slow.
