Spot on, the new fender badges looked like Pep boys afterthoughts...hopefully they don't show up here in the US

Yep. They look like fridge magnets stuck on.

My biggest concern and for me personally the purchase factor, is how much of a car is it compared to the BRZ premium. I'm not looking for something luxurious, anything I purchase now is more nicer inside that my almost 10 year old was spartan then and is meager now S2000. So I'm hoping they make it at least comparable to it's BRZ premium twin if it's mono spec. Otherwise as much as I don't want to because I like the 86, I might have to go with the BRZ.

In any case, there should be some information for it in the next month at least possibly an update on the Japanese side.

We will see

Don't think that we will see anything much more then the monospec FRS for 2017 since they are not likely going to up the trim when they have already said there will only be the one level. Now the 18s are a whole new ball game since they publicly stated they were "considering" multiple trim levels for the North American 86 market. There could be a level much closer to the BRZ by then.

I have the reverse concern in that I will be looking for a replacement in 2019 and am afraid that all there will be are fully loaded versions with a pile of stuff I do not need nor want. It is the little things that can sway me and one of the features of the FRS that drew me to it was the lack of buttons and clutter on the steering wheel. This kept the spoke nice and small and it has a great feel but to add buttons they need to bulk it up and I just don't find it as comfortable.

The fun part is that no matter what they do there is going to be some group that just plain don't like it so somebody is always going to be disappointed.

Unfortunately for me, my S2000 is falling apart due to bad maintenance by the previous owner, and it is in need of replacement soon. As of FEB I've been fixing this car every month for something wear and tear. It's basically been driven like 2 weekends, Honda makes great cars and it makes sense for my car to need stuff replaced. For me it's also I'm trying to get something bigger to accommodate some needs. So I might have to purchase thee 2017. For me it's basically whichever is the better deal, and usually these two cars have always been close in pricing for the Lower trim and Monospec.

you're right someone is gonna be unhappy, if it was up to me I offer all the trims that Japan gets. A racing trim a Middle tier, and a high tier. Althought in the past our Monospec FRS had more stuff than their mid tier, small things IIRC. Meanwhile iirc they only had one regular trim BRZ(Limited) and they have the TS. I need to go back and check my bases, it's been a while I could be wrong about this.

I think you and I would prolly be happy in a lower trim Premium BRZ or 86 for Gen 2 Tcoats.

That's pretty much me. I also hate those "packages" where if you want feature X you have to get it in a "convenience pack" of 30 things you don't want.

An example when I was cross shopping was the Camaro. Because of the dash height I needed seats that could be raised for MomHawk (she literally could not see over the dash on the passenger side). Problem is to get adjustable seats in 2012 you had to purchase a convenience pack that included wheels, some better floor mats, and some interior trim bits that had nothing to do with the seats. It was a $4,000 option pack. No thanks.

They are? I haven't seen one in 5 years or more.

The phone book for the town I live in (when I last had one show up at my house 10 years ago) was less than a 1/2 inch thick. Not much help there....

I get one a couple times a year, and promptly throw it away. The half inch thickness allows you to fine tune your height better. Like coilovers.

I feel your concern, Sometimes I feel like we can't win, we either get too little option, or too much options and or the car isn't accommodating to everyone as is, accommodating to most at the very least. I cringe to see the day where everything is like German and adding this and that is 800$ or 300$ or 4000$ when it should be standard. No Thanks!

I saw this red car at the ring last weekend. It really does look way better in person and with that license plate there. Also I don't know if this has been mentioned but it had the new spoiler that was black with body colored ends. I can post pictures if anyone is interested.
