I've only turned it off for AX and the 2 track days I've done with it. I've used VSC sport a good bit on roads, particularly when I had stock tires. I'd recommend to anyone after first getting this car to drive it for a while with everything on, and truly understand why it's intervening when it does. Then maybe try sport and see if you can tell a difference in the threshold it intervenes. I can go quite quickly on curvy backroads without it stepping in when I'm smooth. I haven't done enough AX and track with this car yet comment on full off or pedal dance mode yet.

So after some testing, I can safely say I'm still alive, and the car behaves phenomenally.
It really is set way to aggressive in vsc sport. The car doesn't slide around, if anything, it's much more predictable and enjoyable. The TCS is so aggressive it gave me the impression I'd be sliding around like Bambi on ice, but the fact is it now behaves much more like a grippy go kart. Thanks for the feedback. |

Sorry, I have to post this every couple of years:
"If the nannies on this car are 'interfering with your driving style' on the street then you drive like an asshat"

If it's raining or very wet, everything on.
If it is damp or dry, I only have in Sport Mode. In Sport Mode all the nannies are still on (even though it says TCS Off, it's not really) it just changes how they work and allows a little sideways fun. The TCS/SC are more biased to oversteer in Sport mode. If I'm in a safe area and I've checked the road, I'll turn off the TCS/SC to have some fun but I don't drive around like that. I've only done this a few times. The problem is that public roads are random, chaotic and unpredictable. YOU may be a great driver and have total control over your car, but when a patch of sand, slippery conditions or unmarked road construction comes up out of nowhere, you're on your own. This is what happened to my old car. The road went from pavement to sand to pavement and a [responsible normal assed] 15 MPH turn turned into a trip into a tree. It was unmarked and slippery as ice. But the electronic aids on a Genesis Coupe are awful and completely useless. The ABS never kicked on (all 4 wheels locked up) and the TC/SC on that car were so bad, I think they were defective. When they'd kick on (if they did) it'd be so violent it'd throw the passenger into the dashboard if they weren't wearing the seatbelt. With all the stupid crap I did with that car, it was a normal slow turn that totalled it. That car was fun, but between the awful brakes, terrible electronic aids and no LSD it was not a great car overall. The electronic aids on this 86 are very good. Use them. |

I only take it all the way off for track or autocross. In normal driving with the car wearing 245s, I've never had it intervene without intentionally trying to make it happen.

Attend some AutoX or HPDE with aids off, become comfortable with your limits and your car's, then you can decide in any given situation whether you need them or not.

I've come closer to spinning my FR-S with all the aids on than with them all off. It's now always push and hold for street, pedal dance for autocross. |

I usually leave it full on and rarely have the nanny kick in but when it does it's usually due to bad pavement or something like that and it can cause serious problems. Changing lanes or turning and having power get cut or worse having the brakes apply themselves has nearly caused me to get rear ended.

The systems are always engaged, except lately I have felt and heard some grumbly vibration in the back until the car is thoroughly warmed up, more noticeable when pulling around a sharp corner from a stop. I have been driving with the systems turned off (as off as the control button will get me) which mostly smooths everything out, so that seems to make the traction mechanicals the source of the problem.
Obviously I've got to get the car into the dealer, and I'm under warranty still, so no fears about the cost of repairs, but does anybody have an idea about what's going on in the butt end of my 2014 Limited manual with 20k miles? Totalled, of course. Thanks, guys.
