"the shop said it's okay so i did it", no go

if you're white in a light car with light interior and there is a car driving behind you at night shining light through your rear window, you'll be oklay

if you're black in a dark car with a dark interior and there is no external lightsource, you're gonna draw attention of a bored cop.

also 35% at a right angle, 45 angle, from the rear, etc, it all depends since the light absorbing properties stack.

some windows are slightly tinted from factory, so putting on a set % tint might tint them more

again none of this will hold up in court

can a cop see your face, yes or no, that's the only test.. and it's highly subjective.
Why does a cop need to see your face? That is what a license is for. A license is the true identifier of a person and the vehicle. On a side note, I go for walks every day at lunch and would say about 30% of the cars I see are tinted. Don't think they are inclined to enforce the law to stringently.

You do realize its not really about seeing your face right? It's more about seeing what you are doing with other parts of your body as the officer approaches the car.

audio heaven doesn't have the template in their system for brz/fr-s yet, gonna be a few weeks so if you need a tint IMMEDIATELY, you might have no choice but to do dealer or have it custom cut.

A cop is looking for a driver of a white honda civic with short hair and a mustache

you're driving by in a white honda civic and dark tint, cop sees your car can't make out who is driving, you're getting pulled over.

You will have to excuse me. Law abiding Canadian up here. Naive I guess. Never really thought about carrying a gun or joining AlQuada. LOL.

I totally get that. I have family in law enforcement, which is the only reason it came to mind for me. That is the single most nervewracking part of their job on a consistent basis.

I am related to a former police chief of a nearby region, and it was him who told me that the law states that the driver and front passenger window cannot be tinted. The reason for the ambiguity in the law is that many vehicles now come with a factory "tint" that makes the window darker than normal.

I've gotten away with 35% for years, but all it takes it one cop who feels a need to ticket someone in a sports car (why are we so hated against?) and your paying a fine
