This is the manual for the microprocessor (ECU) that was involved in the Toyota "unexpected acceleration" case which is the only one I could find any details on.

It's a 32-bit risc processor with 64MB of program address space, and 4GB linear address space. Of course, this one is 10 years old at this point.

One article I read also point to the Freescale MC9S12XDP512 as a pretty common processing unit for current day ECUs. It's a 16-bit, 40Mhz main processor with a 80Mhz coprocessor, 32KB of ram, 512KB of Flash and 90 I/O pins.

It's the ramifications of negotiating with your boss, I would be concerned about.

* if you try to downplay the value of his mods ..... that makes him look like he made unwise additions ...... and he will stubborn up

* if you appear to be a weak negotiator ...... he may think you are a weak employee and don't stand up for the company ...... therefore, you don't get a future raise

* if you are a strong negotiator and are successful, that makes him look weak ....... and you don't get a future raise ..... because he doesn't like you

* if you overwhelm him with your negotiating skills, he may consider you a "threat" to his position at work ........ and fire you ....... in which case, you will have lots of free time to work on your new project car

Yeah, it's going to be touchy. He's also not just my boss, he's a partner and owns this branch of the company.

Who knows how it'll go. I'm kind of a hard-ball negotiator (buying my BRZ took 8 hours), but he also hasn't had me swing by his house to check out the car yet. I understand he's motivated to move it, since the missus is trying to reduce the number of cars they have around.

Yup. Totally normal. The AVCS tables for OFT stage 1 (and their equal length stage 2 tables) are reasonably aggressive and have a bit of resonance at those speeds.

Increased engine noise is completely normal especially at that range. Not sure where the exact quote is but shiv mentioned something with timing changes causing the sound change. Not sure about the valve rattle
