Oh, why are you selling this car when it's on a lease? Is this why you are not providing lien and payoff information?
Buyer beware...
The amount I owe on the car should not matter, I have had many scams so far who ever has cash or cashiers check will take it I don't need to give out any personal information.

Thanks for bashing my thread always helpful.

PS - You can sell leased car that's nothing new as long as you pay the bank back the amount owed.

A leased car can be sold as long as the original contract allows for such a transaction. Usually at the end of a lease period...

Incorrect. You can sell a leased car as long as the dealership and/or lienholder of the vehicle (Toyota Financial Services) agrees, either via the contract or another arrangement.

You, the registered owner, have very little say in whether or not you can sell the car.

I have had so many people question this over the last weeks.

Glad someone else stepped in!

You're welcome, but this is information you should disclose as a seller. It should not be information "found" by a third party who isn't even interested in your car...

Red Flag #1: If a seller is not willing to cooperate on a legal binding monetary transaction, then something is fishy, with the seller's intent to hide an important fact to the buyer.

The point of asking for your vehicle info and payoff amount was so that my bank can process its due diligence and coordinate the transaction with TFS. Obviously, the objective was to ensure payment posting to TFS towards payoff, back pay, and financial obligations tied to the vehicle before you even get a cent of my money.

Red Flag #2: If the seller is talking gibberish, just back the fuck away.

Unfortunately, that's not always the case. The fine print of your lease contract can state the obvious, but most, if not all, lease contracts do not allow this during the contract's binding term.

What you are referring to is a lien (financed) which is completely different from a lease. During a lease, the lessor (TFS) still owns the car. You, the leasee, are basically paying for the product for use under the lessor's terms (mileage, years, etc...). Because it is a binding contract, the leasee nor the lessor can sell the vehicle to another entity until the contract matures (as per Mav1178 stated) or through a grace period (read the fine print).

The lessor and leasee can transfer this binding contract to another entity but that's out of the scope and point of this discussion.

chill out and stop ruining my sale thread.

Please keep this on topic.

I have since shared all the info with any and all buyers who have come to see the car I have even sent photos of the paper work to other banks for the buyers. I did not know it wasn't a big deal before.

Sorry you're bent out of shape about it. I'll even give you the info if you want.
