My question is with 18x8.5 +47 in the front, it would rub on the inner guard or strut wouldnt it? it leaves 17mm less clearance in the front inner guard according to offset calc vs the stock wheels and shocks, from PERRIN_Jeff's post theres about 12-14mm safe space only to the inner guard or strut with stock rims and shocks in the front.

Only 12-14mm? That's not much room to play with. Either way, an 8.5 +47 won't look that great.

Can someone tell me about how long of a drop this is? I want to run a similar setup size rim in the rear. But I don't like how close it is to the tire at all. (Blue car)

I'll let you know in a week. I just ordered 18x8.5 +47 18x9.5 +38 in bronze. I plan on running 225/35 front 245/35 rear

Your choice of tyres will be very limited, particularly in 225/35R18.

I personally would have gone the 8.5 +30 at the front but I am also very keen to see what the 9.5 +35 looks like up back...

8.5 in the front i was thinking +36, which leaves 6mm less clearance on the inside compared to the stock rims and extends about 32mm out
and 9.5 in the rear i was thinking +38, which leaves 21mm less clearance on the inside compared to the stock rims and extends about 43mm out
this setup i think would b pretty safe (no rubbing) and not require more guard rolling (hopefully) and look nice with a 1" ~ 1.5" drop

off course not all wheel brands have these offsets so im looking into custom offset replicas..

mate I think for the sake of 2mm you are better off just compromising. at the end of the day, 2 mm is nothing between a wheel alingnment or different tyre etc.

If I change any tires, i'd definitely be going 18s. Interested in hearing what drop is on the blue one - the white brz in the pics looks like stock height with 18s.. I think they fit the car better.
