This time of year the highways around here are carnage. Counted 14 in my two hour drive this morning. One was less than a block from home and I live well into the city.

We get that down here, to a lesser degree. My city has been pretty good about controlled deer culls that reduced car/deer accidents by 50%.

That said, your numbers make the rabbit puree on the road in front of my house yesterday morning sound tame.

You'll like this: When they first had the cull happen, the more insane PETA-like animal rights activists came out and protested the plan, because it was apparently "inhumane" to put a bullet through their skulls as opposed to letting them die of starvation or, as you pointed out, have to cross busy roads and put actual humans at risk. The more entertaining part of this was that maybe 95% of the protesters were from out of town...in other words, they had no dog in the fight. The vast majority of residents favored a controlled kill where the meat was after supplied to local homeless shelters.

Hello all, and more specifically @Tcoat @humfrz @Ultramaroon

Curbing the drinking has helped immensely. Almost as much as quitting smoking. Don't think I'll ever quit entirely but putting a limit on what I can drink has been great. Though, there will be a few occasions where I'm not limiting myself (mostly military functions, New Years Levee, Remembrance Day, Christmas dinner and the Junior Ranks Ball) but for the majority of the year, it's working well.
