On the plus side, it looks like Toyota learned their lesson with the Twins (though that could be more of the Subaru DNA)... It feels like the 2zz was almost left to starve in terms of aftermarket (unlike it's Honda counterparts)

And lost EVERY performance test in that comparison. But car rags are moot anyway. Dont get me wrong, I like the car. Its fairly quick, handles well and is comfy. Its a fantastic saloon car. Better than a 335 IMO. And like the interiors on the Lexus loads more than Bimmers.

I drove an IS300 today. Damn fine car. Really like the new tune on the 2GR-FSE for daily driving. Linear and really plays nicely with the transmission.

Like some humans, cars also go through a mid-life crisis and try to look younger by going under the knife, as did the Lexus IS sedan that was presented today in a world premiere at the 2016 Beijing auto show.

The most notable change on the outside concerns the fascia that gets an uninterrupted, full-height grille in both regular and F-Sport models, together with a new bumper housing huge cornet air ducts, and reshaped headlamps while keeping the divisive "L"-shaped, according to Lexus, “Nike” logo-shaped, according to consumers, Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

A new set of tail lamp fixtures with more pronounced "L"-shaped LED light guides, rectangular chrome exhaust tips, newly styled alloy wheels and two new paint schemes called Deep Blue Mica and Graphite Black Glass Flak, complete the exterior revisions.

Inside, the multimedia display screen has grown from 7 inches to 10.3 inches, while there are also new colors for some markets, a slightly revised lower center console to fit completely within the knee bolsters, new stitching on top of the meter hood, and an "Enter" button added to the side of the Remote Touch Interface (RTI) on the center console.

The 2017 IS’ engine lineup remains unaffected by the facelift offering a 241hp 2.0L turbo four, a 255hp 3.5L V6 and a 306hp 3.5L V6. North American availability has yet to be announced.

It should go without saying that the 2.0T is a boon over the lazy 2.5. I test drove an NX200T back around March and thought it was a solid performer - good linear power to redline. More than adequate for a 4,000 lb cute-ute getting 22/27 mpg. Should feel competitive with 500 lbs less to carry around. Although bit of a head scratcher that it gets the same city mileage 22/33 Interesting that Lexus doesn't wanna fight at the entry power level ala A4 1.8T, 320i, TLX 2.4, ATS 2.5.

Gunnning straight for the C300? That's a bold strategy Cotton.

My folks just picked up a NX 200t, I'm wondering if this car will share the same block, but with a different tune. And I'm also wondering what the long term reliability, and durability of this new engine for the long run. (since first turbo, following the trends lately)

The car went into the shop for a fuel purge issue, and we received the same car for a loaner, took it snowboarding and put it through it's paces, the automatic shifts seamlessly and the turbo doesn't loose boost and scoots with pep.
