Getting windows tinted.. Cut out for rear deck break light?

Yay or nay to do a cut out for the third break light to be visible? I'm going with 5% on the rear and worried the obliviots on the road won't notice me as I've already had a number of close calls.

edit:

As promised here are the pics of the finished worked. To say I'm pleased is an understatement.

I would. Probably ok up to about 30% but anything much darker could block too much light. Not like the car sits high enough that the bottom lights are visible to everybody so it is actually important on these. Be risking a pull over as well depending upon how strict your local enforcement is.

I have to agree with Tcoat, 5% is pretty dark. The light would end up pretty dim.

I would liken it to people that black out their tail lights which has to be the dumbest car "mod" EVAR.

California allows any shade on back glass and rear sides, but 5% is like limo tint so if you get pulled over, you better roll your windows down when you come to a stop. Police are not fond of super dark windows............and yeah, I'd do a cut out for the rear stop light.

I never found who owned it (it was a mall parking lot) or I would have. I cyber smacked them here but if they are on they ignored me since the last I saw it they were still dipped.

I got 5% on my Firebird. Regretted instantly. It's way too dark for no reason. 15% is plenty dark enough, and is exactly what I got.

I have 20% and even that can be a pain in the butt on a dark road at night. The 20% still looks good in bright sun though.

For clarification:

5% on the rear windows only. Not on the doors. The doors will have 35%, which is "technically" not legal in Cali, but I see that and darker ALL the time with no repercussions so I'm not worried.

Also, my eyes are EXTREMELY light sensitive. To the point that when it's night and I've got headlights blaring in the back window, it blinds me. My sunglasses are the darkest you can get without being legally blind, and they are still too light causing me to squint in bright light. So blocking as much light as possible is in my opinion worth the cost of me having to be a tad more vigilant at night while driving.

My only worry is that having the cut out will look silly, but at the same time I don't want to attract more attention than is necessary.

Do a nice neat job as close as possible to the light and the cut out will look fine.

Yeah I kind of get annoyed at the blacked out tail lights too. Usually they make it so dark that you can barely tell if the brake lights are on or not. >_<
