I don't believe that it will make any significant difference in drone between either of the over pipes. They are both just pipes.

Try putting the stock catback back on its only 30 minutes work. Their will be very little power loss over the perrin, just get some nice tips for it

Would that make more of a difference then just switching back to the stock front pipe?

I mostly drive around the city and back streets, on the highway I experience little to no drone, but when I'm cruising on the streets since I have an automatic my rpms sit at 1500 when I'm light on the throttle and this is where I'm experiencing a lot of drone, is this drone due to the exhaust still being new? I know once it gets coated with soot and carbon it should quite down a bit, but is that the case with drone? Will putting on the stock front pipe alleviate this issue, should I put back on the stock overpipe as well?

I agree. I am thinking it definitely would make more of a difference. I also have auto trans, and get a SHIT LOAD of drone between 1500-2000RPM with UEL header, stock OP/FP/MP and muffler delete. I knew I would have some drone though, and I don't really mind it. I drive around it most of the time because I am in manual mode 99% of the time.

With that being said, I would imagine that the OEM catback's larger muffler will help keep away drone better than the Perrin catback you are currently using.

Do you still get the uel rumble? That's my only concern switching back to stock. I don't mind the noise, just can't stand the drone.

I don't have the OEM muffler on my car. I have a UEL, stock OP/FP/MP and muffler delete and it's pretty loud. Lot's of rumble.

I would imagine with the OEM muffler you will still get that UEL rumble.

EDIT: check out this video (NOT MINE). Skip thru til 00:35 and you can see what just a UEL and stock exhaust sounds like

So you definitely still have the rumble, just not quite as loud as I'm sure it is with your current setup.

If you throw the OEM muffler back on you will lose your rumble in the cabin for sure.

I've run with both of these setups:

Uncatted UEL (louder than a catted one for sure) -- stock OP -- Stock FP -- Stock MP -- Stock muffler = No rumble in cabin, small bump in noise overall but still need sound-tube in cabin to hear engine well.

Uncatted UEL -- Stock OP/FP/MP -- TopSpeed PRO1 axleback = lots of rumble, no drone, but enough volume that highway trips were annoying at 3k+ rpm (70mph)

Can't hurt to try the stock muffler, but in my experience you will lose your rumble.

Overpipe makes no difference in sound.

Your best place to find sound suppression is the front pipe. Keep in mind that a catalytic converter is not a reliable indicator of sufficient sound suppression, because many high-flow cats are often too small to make a difference in sound.

My entire cars exhaust is stock apart from the UEL right now, and I get plenty of the rumble its subtle but noticeable, especially if someone else is driving I can hear it from outside, it's an almost OEM sound. Unlike the setup you have which is much more "brash"

Question

I am in a similar situation, went with full JDL 3" and it is too loud. Sounds great, but too loud. Should I switch the exhaust back to stock exhaust and leave the headers or is there something else I can do? Startup is unbearably loud, but I read you can tune to remove the startup/warmup high rpm.

UEL uncatted header
overpipe frontpipe with cat and resonator
catback with Magnaflow resonators

I used to have a smile every time I drove my car, but now all I have is headaches!
