Diet is 80% of having the body you want. Exercise just helps/adds muscle. If you eat right you won't need to spend hours in the gym and if you eat like shit, no amount of cardio will keep you from being fat.

It really depends on the person.

LOL!!

Well, as Ichi says, "I'm not fat by American standards, only fat by Asian standards."

Looked back at a picture of myself from 3 years ago, used to be able to see my very sharp jawline.

The answer is, not gonna happen in our house. We bought our high school senior daughter a $6200, 2008 Nissan Sentra because we knew she was gonna wreck it at least once. Sure enough, she drove it over a curb; swears she wasn't texting but I don't believe it. I made her pay to repair it and it cost her about $600 for a new rim, repair to her suspension (bent the shit out of a tie rod) and a lifetime alignment deal. Lesson learned, I hope.

I do see a few graduating HS kids with these new, very expensive cars. Some in our neighborhood are getting something more expensive than 30k. Stupid, and their parents have more money than sense, clearly.

He'll start losing weight when he can't get into (or out of) his car anymore...

Here's the truth, it's not as common as Urban Legend leads you to believe, at least outside "TV Life is Reality" areas.

I live in and around what would be considered upper middle class areas. I do not know a single person that has purchased their high school aged child a brand spanking new (or used for that matter) $30,000 car.

I do know a few that leased a Nissan Leaf for their child but that is because until recently it cost $0 to lease a Leaf in Georgia for two years due to federal and state incentives on alternate vehicles.

Most folks have done what I did for all 3 of my sons (who I could have afforded to buy a new car had I chosen to do so).

Son #1 got MomHawk's 1998 Chevy Lumina LTZ in 2005. MomHawk got a new Mustang to replace it. He drove it until 2013 when he bought a replacement car for it.

Son #2 got a 2003 Honda Accord SE in 2010. It had 90,000 miles on it. We paid $5,000 cash. He is still driving it.

Son #3 got a 1998 Volvo C70 in 2015 with 80,000 miles on it. We paid $3,100 for it. He is still driving it.

They all know they get one car from us, they pay gas/maintenance. If they wreck it, they pay damages, if they total it, they don't get a new car. If they want to upgrade, they can sell it or use it as a trade-in as long as I approve the value, and they take over all costs of the new vehicle, without a car loan.

Well I've seen parent who don't necessarily buy their kids cars but they will give them cars that they already own. For example I got a hand-me-down 98 ford Expedition as my first car. It was my father's back in 2002 I believe and he recently got a newer car so I was given that one. On the other side of things there are kids that I have seen at HS where they are driving daddy's Maserati to school. Now, there have been a definite increase where there are 2 SEMA build FRS's in the area where their fathers bought them the car. One of the kids' father owns a newer GTR looks to be a 2014 and a 60's Eleanor Mustang. That father lets his kid drive the GTR from time to time and I know this because that kid likes to fucking rev it at people on the street. Not to mention that same father bought a Porsche GT3 green rocketbunny frs that was an ex-SEMA build for his son..

Well, to be fair, I include California in my "TV Life is Reality" disclaimer!

Admittedly, there are people where $30,000 is the same ratio of their net worth as $3,000 is to me. If I were in that position, would I pay $30,000 for my kid's car? Maybe.

Also, I admit that my kids have all driven my car to school/work at some point, that is a different consideration than buying it for them.
