A few questions about the 2016 brz
Hey everyone, I am looking to purchase a 2016 brz and a I have a few questions. My first question is when is the last month that I can order a brz and have it be a 2016. I am currently saving up for a down payment and i don't want the 2017 brz so im just going to wait until the last month to order the 2016 if that makes sense. My second question is how long will it take for the car to arrive if I order it. I plan on ordering a premium blue manual transmission brz if that helps. My last question is if I order a car and finance it, would i have to make payments on the car even if I haven't recieved the car yet? Also I want to order a car instead of buying one on the lot because I can't find a dealer that has the exact car that I want. And i didn't want to go to a dealer to ask these questions because they wouldn't take me seriously because I am young. Thank you for the help.

Most dealers will have stock until the end of the year. But, a safe bet would be about October.
For it arriving, I'll leave that for someone else. I'd think only a week or 2, but don't quote me on it. If you finance it, they'll start the clock on your payments from when you take delivery, not when you order it. You'll finish signing the paper work when you pick up the keys. And, you usually have about a month and a half before your first payment. Gives them time to mail everything to you. |

The delivery time frame depends on how close you are to the closest port.
For example, I ordered the first week of February here in New Hampshire. The closest port is NJ. It arrived at the end of March. There is a port in GA I believe, closest to you in LA. The boat goes from Japan to West Coast (not sure where the port is) and then through the Panama Canal to GA and then NJ. I would expect the GA delivery a week or two sooner than mine.

Why do you need to "order" this car. You can find dealer stock of a base brz fairly easily....

There is a post on here someplace that the person stated that his dealer at least was not taking anymore orders for factory shipped cars about 2 weeks ago. That would make sense since they will be changing production to the 17s soon (if they haven't already).
That of course does not stop the dealer from getting one from another dealer if they need to.

Some locations do not have much stock of BRZ's. Most dealerships near me got burned when they first came out in 2013 and had left overs for more than a year and said they would only take orders going forward.

Yup, I tried to order a 2016 a couple weeks ago & the dealer said that the factory stopped accepting orders for the 2016 model. So. I've been monitoring the dealers in the area and have seen a few new 2016 arrivals recently. But they seem to sell quickly. I just nabbed one this morning, hopefully it all goes thru smoothly with my purchase.

I handled all of it through email with a loan officer up until the day I picked up the car. Then I just stopped by the credit union on the way over, signed all the papers and was done with that. Also, beware of the "0% interest until" traps at the dealership. A 1.5% rate for the life of the loan is better than a 0% interest rate that expires in six months and then has you paying 5% after that. Sometimes the dealer rate promotions are really good deals, and sometimes they are not, so don't let them dazzle you with offers that seem too good to be true. Dealers can search other dealers' inventories and often find you the car you're looking for. These cars have so few options that that's even easier than with a normal car. You may end up having to pay part or all of a transfer fee for transportation from one dealer to the other and to compensate the other dealer for giving up a car. But just because it's on on your local lot doesn't mean that guy can't get the car for you from two cities over. |

From what I've read somewhere, the factory has already shutdown to get ready for the 2017 model...obviously both BRZ and FRS.
I live in a small town. Local dealership has already gotten rid of all their Scion models, afraid due to that logo soon to no longer exist. They've also taken down their Scion signs outdoors. Like trying to order an Edsel... But really, surely there are 2016s still in port, various locations. Anyone's guess as to BRZs more likely to be on lots than FRSs. What happens at end of any year...you're more likely to get a real deal...much less likely to have a choice of color you're wanting. I've already noted...black, silver, white seem to remain after other colors are gone. You don't get to really order one of these cars anyway. Local dealerships will check what's available in a port near you. Ports here, far as I know, are LA, SF, Portland. Surely they aren't gonna want to get a car from a port far away from a dealership. If I were picky, I'd have to check ports up north, via dealerships near those ports, if I could not get a car in LA port. In other words...call dealerships near big towns up north as well as local. If you'd like to be taken seriously at a dealership...not wearing casual clothes might help. Sad to say, but it's how we look, first impressions that counts...unless of course we're a billionaire. Even then, some are not taken seriously, does the name Trump ring a bell ? Note: I was told years ago. During a job interview, a person is judged during the first 30 seconds of eye contact. "Take delivery" and "physically driving it" are two different things. As for wanting the exact car... you can always have a dealer attempt to find a car for you via inbound inventory. Paperwork is typically done at time of delivery. If there is a 90 day turnaround after order is put in, you will not "own" the car until delivery.
I see very little reason to order this unit. Dealer inventory has a ton of them out there, brand new, and waiting on you. If your dealer isn't interested in doing a dealer trade, find another dealer! Google is your friend! |
