Can we get a thread already on all the various shops in the Bay Area and what they do? I started compiling a list recently but gave up. Are there just too many shops to account for? Or would it seem like we're endorsing certain shops?

edit: let me think about it actually. lol

If we did this would it violate vendor rules @ichitaka05? It would be a guide to local places for installs and repairs but some are performance shops that sell parts as well. Some are vendors others are not.

Hm... Boarder line safe. Just keep in mind, just keep the info of all the shops/venders equally to make a data, I don't see any issue.

To be blunt, I did this years ago (just after co-starting with you and 2 others...) and what I found is 1) not many friendly shops...typical 'mechanic' attitudes 2) this platform was new to them, could have changed since but still would like to know my FRS won't be treated like a "typical" car. Though it is, just don't blatant to tell me "...it's just your typical car with 4 wheels..." 3) not many can get the parts we really want. If I wanted OEM performance parts, I'd go the dealership and paint the parts blue, gold, glossy black or whatever color I deemed "performance" and 4) not many really exist that have street-credit or track-credit. So, in compiling such a list and doing the runarounds to meet n' greet these shops...I've concluded to not go public with it in attempts to not endorse shops I personally would not take my car to. Perhaps make a thread to show shops, their experiences, positive things but it takes only one negative post to shut them down.

TBH, there's only less than a handful of shops I'd take my car to and if it's a trek for some people, well then you just have to take your chances with the others.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I even had wrote a response then changed it when it crossed my mind. And making reviews of non-vendors vs vendors could get the thread deleted very easy. Especially since we would have to get beyond just bay area the thread could jusy get out of hand. I personally won't tackle it.

Thanks for the replies guys. It surely would be a tall task to make a full list and try to keep the thread from derailing into reviews or endorsements or something. I was just wondering if there's a way to mitigate the daily posts about where to get work done. Guess it's more trouble than it's worth though.

That said, can anyone recommend a good shop to get a catback installed? I've never worked on my car before and am not familiar with the area.

I was at Thursday night's romp because of a work outing.

It wasn't a completely awful game if I ignored the shitty 5th inning. Wish I could've gone last night or today, but I don't think I'll make it to any more games till after finals :|
