This could really spice up your love life! Somehow I don't think that fingers are the only things that will get painted.

I get that the original AE86 had coupe and hatchback variants, but I'm hoping this stays a concept or is at least redesigned to be much more aggressive.

Regardless of my own opinion though, I'll have no problems with it going into production (assuming it ever even does) alongside the normal 86.

@soulreapersteve, not to pry, but is there a reason you paid off that much at once? Were you financed at some kind of ridiculous interest rate or something? Personally, when I got the car, I financed it because I knew it would only build my credit score (got up to 812 at one point), and then basically doubled my payments until it was paid off in about a year and a half. IMO, I'd rather have the cash buffer and just make larger payments than pay a lump sum and watch my credit score take a hit. Keeps the total interest down as well.

However, congrats on paying off an fully owning your car. Its a great feeling, I know

those dual radium catch cans look pretty promising and are definitely a necessity before going FI. That and a oil cooler. Once I get some catch cans it'll definitely be radium dual kit.

Great question.

Best rate I got was 8% at the time, it was worse if I didn't put down a large downpayment. I could have refinanced now for a possible lower rate but I absolutely started resenting it. Furthermore, it was a personal goal of mine to pay it off as quickly as possible so I can focus on other goals - raising my 401k contribution to above company match levels (only 3% currently) and general savings for future whatever.

Even though it seems like I dumped all of the cash I had, I still have a decent enough buffer where I'll be able to survive. Believe me, I spent hours doing calculations and "what ifs". I've been dumping everything I earned for the past few paychecks to get it to that level and finally nuked it. My previous scenario was to keep doing large payments every pay period (bi-monthly) until it went away but the interest was too much for me (imo).

I have more reasons but just got off a 6 day rotation and my brain is mush. :P Still hasn't hit me that I paid off the car in under a year, perhaps when I have the title in my hands it will.

I've never been a shooting brake fan but I'm hoping it goes into production purely for larger aftermarket demand as most of the engine/suspension parts will probably be interchangeable with our cars. I also can't wait for a million threads of "Does this fit the shooting brake version as well?"
