I can attest that if you have a poorly designed air box on an agricultural vehicle (like an HD truck) a better flowing filter may add a bit of power. 0.5% of 400 HP is still a number, albeit infinitely small.

But my experience is with the filters is that they get clogged with dust. On a paper filter the loose particulate crap falls off the filter surface and into the air box, but the oil filters just mop it all up. While no one in their right mind would off-road an FR-S, dusty roads, wildfires, and gravel/salt spray clogged my K&N's a lot faster.

And even if I was super careful cleaning them, I always found a bit of oil downstream from the filter in the intake.
Same reasons I won't fit a oiled filter again.

are you a dumbass or just pretending to be?

if there is no increase in power, that means there is no increase in air intake, which means none of your claims are accurate, which means you just wasted 50 dollars.

what's more, you feel it necessary to coverup your useless splurge by posting the same K&N rhetoric that they have on the back of their products hoping that if more people make the same mistake then somehow it would all end up being a positive thing.

K&N Oil filters are hype, i used to have one, after 1 hour of driving i forgot i even put it there, never again.

You're better off taking a 50 dollar bill and just taping it to your air box, it will have the same effect.

We did - it picked up 1 1/2 HP when we removed the filter entirely.

^^^This, I think keeping it buttoned up will help with heat soak.

This weekend I'll be installing Accelerate Performances's Short Ram-To-Cold-Air-Intake.

Expect a full review with pictures accordingly.

Any questions about it right now, ask Don@Accelerated.

A little update: I removed the K&N drop in put back the OEM filter. There is definitely a difference. Nothing to be amazed about, but there is definitely a difference in response, sound and acceleration in the higher RPM's.

I will be installing an intake system, that's why I removed the drop in, to return it and put that money towards the system.

I dont know about you peoples, but to me, a filter is a filter. for HP gain, what you want is... tuning, a chip (when they come out with them) oor a turbo/super charger... A filter really does nothing unless your old one is full of dirt, which you can just blow out instead of buying a new one.
