Dude you have to insure your car with a non-Brampton postal code because car insurance in Btown is stupid expensive due to all the poor drivers and insurance scammers in this town. I insure mine with my parents address in Windsor... so much cheaper.. $1450 per year for me with a windsor postal code, over 2900 a year with a brampton one! its insane..

Not to derail the spotting discussion but if *your* home address is different from what is on your insurance paper, that's considered fraud.

Is that not insurance fraud? If the insurance company finds out, not only will they deny your claim, they will cancel your policy, which will make it REALLY hard to get insured in the future; especially with a fraud claim.

Ayyyyyy lmao!

Admission to insurance fraud on a public forum! Excellent, I hope nothing happens to your car requiring a claim. If your company decides to check into you, you may be screwed.

Unfortunately this is very common and nearly all law enforcements don't care as much as insurance companies. You will be surprised.

As others have mentioned, cops don't care. But insurance does. So if you were to get into an accident, they will 99.9% find out your true address because when it comes to them paying, they like to dig deep to avoid ways of paying you.

I wouldn't say cops don't care, some do care but depends if you give them something to make them care.

My ex had her parents address on her license and insurance in Scarborough but lived in North York. There was a new no left turn sign put up and she didn't see that and made a left turn and got pulled out (don't you hate that?!??) and she commented to the cop that she didn't see that sign and mentioned that it wasn't there before. Cop asked her why she didn't think it wasn't there before and well, she mentioned that she lived in the condos on that block. Ooops. So she ended up getting a ticket for the left turn and something else for incorrect information on her DL and insurance (it's required to also have your proper address on your DL).

@Bzives yeah, that's insurance fraud, which could cost you a whole shit ton monetarily, but also could get you a nice criminal charge if they decide to pursue it that far...

Right... But the advice you gave would be constituted as fraud.

Yes when you move you have 30 days to change the address on your ownership and License. The copper decided to go the extra mile and give her a ticket for that too..

LOL you can't charge someone criminally or deny their auto claim based on the advice they give on some random public forum. But I will be selling the house later this summer and will then have to change the ownership over.. but i'm squeezing the last few months out of it here..

Just like the hundreds of people on this forum that have Boosted their Cars.. I'm sure they have notified their insurance company about that too.... riiiiiiight..

Lmfao don't worry about it man, things like this is common, i have four houses I switch between and my insurance only cares about which one is where the car is parked at specifically, don't care if I live at x and around y all day.
