So, my day:

6-710: drove from home to site
710: arrive on site
745: meeting with site contact
8-1300: sat in my truck
1300-1345: worked
1345-1400: signed off permits
1400-1505: drove home.

Not a bad way to make 9 hours of pay.

Jealous, used to be an e85 station about 8 minutes from my house, demand was shit for it. Nearest e85 station (in Canada) is 6 hours away. I could hop to Niagara Falls (about 2 hours) or Detroit (about 4 hours) though. So inconvenient.

Also, for those bored, triangulate that shit. I bet you can't find where I live just by doing that. ( @Tcoat , you can't play)

Don't know, that 8-1300 block would drive me nuts if it happened often.

When I was a much younger lad I worked at an amusement park as a costume character. We worked in 3 teams. You spent 45 minutes in costume then 90 minutes "recovering" which for us meant sitting around and playing cards, shooting the breeze, watching TV or just wandering around the park people watching. So basically you got paid for 3 hours of work and 5 hours of playing poker and it paid double minimum wage at the time.

Should have kept that job....

You just kind of get used to it, really. Gave me a chance to take a little nap, then catch up on some paperwork I was behind on.

Pipeline digs are really similar, you show up before the excavation or hydrovac crew, do 10 minutes of work, spray paint an x where they need to dig, wait 4 hours, tell them they need to expose more pipe, wait another 2 hours, work for 1.5-2 hours, depending on the condition of the pipe (always pretty good in my experience, have never seen a severely corroded or pitted pipeline), pack up, go home then not go into the office the next day while you do the paperwork from the dig.

Gotcha. Ever go on James St near John Foote Armoury late at night? That's the place to go to when you need a pick me up if you think your life sucks.

I did my Basic training and my Soldier Qualification there 6 years ago. Seemed every night that was spent there, there was always a homeless dude or a meth/crack head walking around in the building haha
