After waiting a year myself I threw in the towel. When you price out the esc + a procede and batteries after exchange it's not much more for an sbd turbo kit. That's what I ended up going with and instead of 220, 230 hp you can go to 290hp, 300hp on an octane 94 fuel. Might want to check it out.

One stop shop purchase through ft86motorsports for a drift bar and custom tune from shiv.

Only thing that tilts the sbd and extra tune is if you don't have an oft already.

My 2¢

Sbd plans

I just recently changed to this plan partly thanks to my tax return. Should receive the kit in a bit over a week now and have an opportunity to put it on soon with kids and wife leaving to visit her sister and nephews.

I'll have to let you know but I am already expecting huge grins with the extra 6 - 8 hours of. Labour vs an esc install. Already expecting to lose more money to needing new rims and tires to get this power to the ground.

Also looking forward to the turbo header taming my noisy n1 down a bit. The drone with my resonated invidia front pipe doesn't kill the 3000rpm highway drone in 6th well. Does great at 4k rpm but thats a pretty unexplainable speed reason to the cops....

In the mean time with the wait absolutely loving the new ofh tune on my tomei invidia setup.

185hp and 150 ft lbs with steeper torque roll up off the clutch; pretty fun

Plan to install it yourself eh. Nice.
Why the drift bar?
Did shiv quote you on a custom tune?

The costs are not really close if you plan to have your kit professionally installed as the Phantom ESC does not require this at all (hand tools and about 2 hours). Also the Phantom Kit can be uninstalled in 30 minutes for dealer visits. A turbo? No chance.

Phantom ESC
$2100 kit+batteries - $500 PROcede controller (optional)
$500 OFT
$0 labor install

vs.

SBD Turbo Kit
$3000 kit
$500 OFT
+4-6 hrs labor install @$70-$100/hr.

If you plan to self install that's another story. Please go slow, I'm sure you'll do a great job. Please post your impressions.

Why the drift bar?

If you don't buy the drift armorial bar as an option you are forced to cut the factory crash bar to fit the intercooler and I am a big fan of 100% perfect bolt on fit. Plus the factory crash bar restricts alot of airflow in front of the intercooler.

Did shiv quote you on a custom tune?

Custom tune from shiv is a required option for 195 USD with the kit to ensure a safe mapping with 10lbs boost on this high compression engine.

Here's why my case is a little different.

I am presently running a tomei uel header and oft.
By going to an sbd I can sell my tomei hdr as a rebate for the sbd upgrade and since I already have the oft the only extra cost is the custom tune for the turbo on my logs with husky 94.

This turbo kit mounts right up to my Invidia overpipe so really the rest of my exhaust purchase last November is still put to use and selling a tomei uel hdr with how well it does on the new ofh stage 2 tune really shouldn't be hard.

Couldn't care less about a dealer friendly installation as I bought my car used a year ago and warranty ended last January. As well I didn't buy the car to baby it for the dealer's pleasing but as a daily driver to tune so no worries there.

As well with all my reading of esc I know I couldn't live without the smooth driving feel of partial boost that the procede module offers so not really optional for me.

So with the header rebate so to speak and a tiny bit more for shiv's turbo tune and a drift bar and the fact that I will indeed install it myself on a long weekend with kids and wife gone; the price differential is worth it to go straight to 300whp instead of 220/230whp. It's also worth it to note that I can't get e85 only husky 94.

If you weren't doing self install or didn't have oft or exhaust already for a partial rebate then yeah the gap is a little bigger; but my original plan was esc with uel header and full exhaust.

This just came as a bigger overall power package for not much of a change in my first upgrades. Should be impressive and will probably make me get my pre-selected tire and wheel combo much sooner than later from 1010 tire since the prius tires won't stand a chance

@DAEMANO I love the idea of the ESC but the uncertain wait period (Seems like it's min 2 years now), and lack of transparency overall (no communications or updates) have diminished my passion for it
