I'm going to have to read up on other DI and see if they make a similar noise. I know the ticking is normal, but not the chirping.

Hey guys, I have an appt next weekend for 1000 mile checkup and idle issue... My dealership is playing like I'm the first for this to happen to... Is there some sort of case number or reference number I can give them?

You guys make sure to not expect the dealers to know about this, taking into consideration how few are actually in customers hands. While that is a standard dealer line of BS, it most likely is true for the time being on this vehicle.

Funny you should mention that, I've noticed a drop of RPMs when at a stop too. Its nothing major but it is noticable from inside the car and standing next to it.

If it were JUST the idle issue I may think it was normal, but there's been a few rare occasions where the engine just seems to die for 1/2 second. I've had it happen while accelerating and the other day it happened when I started the car and it was idling in park. It's like a momentary blip or misfire, but there's been no CEL so far. Last night the car was driving great so I'm not sure what to think about this anymore. I have mentioned it to the dealership and am leaving it there Wednesday for them to look at it. I don't expect anything to be done, but at least I'm letting them know there *may* be something not quite right.

Mine has an idle dip as well, but I only notice it in a specific situation:

I'm cruising at speed (ie 50mph in 5th or 6th) and approaching a red light. At a good distance from the light, I put the car into neutral and brake as needed to stop. As The car passes the ~22mph mark, I notice the needle dips from idle to like 4-500 rpm and the car sounds like it's going to stall. After a second of this it recovers to normal idle.

The car has not stalled nor has the car thrown a CEL. Started happening this weekend.

Have a FR-S 6MT #1250 ~550 mi. New to boxer engines and MT driving. Had the car for one week, two Shell fillups from 1/4 tank already. Will call scion in the morning.

My guess is one of 2 things is going to happen:

1 - Subaru/Toyota says this is normal

2 - There's eventuall a TSB with an ecu update to minimize the rpm dip

It could be normal, and just coincidence that a couple of people had issues with the CEL which may not be related at all to the rpm dip we experience. Remember, most of us have not had a stall or CEL.... Although we can take our cars to the dealership, unless there's a CEL or TSB they are going to probably say the rpm dip is normal (I bet).

I posted before that I was having an intermittent issue with the car stalling and running very rough. I called the Scion number and was given a case number.

Yesterday the car exhibited the same behavior again and the check engine light as well as the traction control light came on. This time the rough idle didn't last very long but the idiot lights stayed on. I took it in to the dealer and gave them all the information. I'm waiting to hear from them about the car.

I am glad my FR-S is not really showing these signs. But I will be watching my car very closely.

**EDIT**

So posting my reps number helped me get things going faster, they are quoting June 25th now but I have removed his "extension" at his request because of the overwhelming amount of calls that he has received regarding this same issue.

So it looks as if there are quite a few people with this issue other than those who have posted here.

called Jose. he gave me a different case number and told me to take it to the dealer. ill be going tomorrow
