Yeah, I get that. A lot of people share this belief, including my own parents of course. But I'm trying to figure out what Ashi is no longer okay with.

Nah, it's perfectly OK to live at home that long, if your parents will have you. Not everyone lives in flyover states where rent is cheap. 1BR apartments in this area start at $1500/mo. It's pretty much the norm out here for 20-somethings to live with their folks if they're not bringing in at least $50K a year.

I moved out once I had a stable career started, but plenty of people I know lived with their parents into their late 20s. It's just the nature of the housing market.

Yea, my sons know as long as they are being productive and are willing to live by my rules, they are always welcome at home. The "live by my rules" part usually prevents it for any long term though.

I'm teasing. 27 does seem to be pushing it though. I figure you've got a little while after you graduate college, then you need to move on. If you work full time and didn't go to college but still can't afford to move out then you need to get your shit together cuz you're screwing something up. If you're like Way1 and can afford to move out but doesn't because racecar... well if you can afford racecar you can afford to survive on your own. But that's just my opinion. If your parents want you to stay cuz they like the rent check then things get complicated...

My dad complained when i moved out cuz he thoughts its a waste money under my situation; full time job and full time student. Paying 400$ or so for a studio just for sleep less than 5 hours not worth it. But i pay the water bill of the house because i wash the car every weekend and DirectTV so he no longer get drunk on bars watching his games. Sometimes i want to live by my own but im scared about getting jobless.

Either... I'll make sure to have a bucket ready with me, so when I need to throw up, it's ready

Went to college, work full time, make roughly $37k a year (after five years and starting at $29k a year, and the only reason it went up that much at all was the quasi promotion they gave me) and had roughly $35k in student loans at least, might have been more. Between loan payments and the car payment, yeah, I can't afford to move out. Take the car away and I still can't afford to move out. Should I have not got the car? Yeah, probably. But it's inclusion isn't the issue.

Now, I could move out, get a roommate and live in a shitty apartment, living paycheck to paycheck, but I've decided I couldn't stand that. My parents don't want me to struggle either, and they definitely don't want me to move out early only to come back again. So, while my goal was never to be at home this long, it's the situation I'm stuck with. This job was only supposed to last me a year, it was resume building. But I haven't had any luck in the job market, everyone wants 5 years of experience I don't have, while refusing to give it to me. I'm currently talking to four different recruiting agencies, the first one to offer me a better job wins and I'll move out the instant I can afford it.

In the mean time, I'm comfortable at home. My parents are fine as long as I'm not a bum and pay my rent. I have an awesome car, and over $10k in retirement saved up already. Also, my student loan debt is below $15k. Might even be below $14k at this point, but I don't check it.

My oldest surviving t-shirt is from the Deep Purple concert in Gothenburg on feb 28, 1987.

So that's only 29 years. I'm out of the game.

That's fine. We don't have to be ok with how the other lives/operates. I moved out when I was 19(18?). Got a shitty apartment in North Hollywood with the gf(at the time) and I've lived in my own ever since. Most of the time supporting someone else. Much of the time I spent in LA I didn't have a car which obviously saves money but I managed. Student loan paid of in the first year. I made $46k last year. My gf made a little over 50k
