Exactly. The length of the runners are measured from the head flange to the (final) collector. The section that loops after the collector does nothing to effect the characteristics of the header.

If 4-2-1 generally has a broader torque range than 4-1, those going for supercharged route shall consider 4-2-1 more than 4-1, so the result will be best of both!

Yes. I know you can turn off the CEL with Ecutek, but I am not 100% sure with Unichip.

I'm thinking about getting either the HKS 4-2-1 even length, or the MXP 4-1 even length. Anyone have any opinions or experience with either header?

WOW, this thread was dead for quite a long time! I have decided to go 4-2-1 EL (equal length) mainly because of the design efficiency to extract the gases out. Interestingly enough I had HKS 4-2-1 (catted) on my car. It made some difference but nothing to write home about. Definitely better than the stock ones. I then changed to another 4-2-1 un-catted one which was quite good, however I felt that the power was mostly at the top end, and torque was only slightly improved. After that I changed to ACE B250 which I highly recommend if you want to have a good balance between torque and power. Great for track work. Recently I changed to ACE CS400 and I cannot be any happier. The low end torque is fantastic and it just pulls like a bull! Mind you though, my preference for high end power has been replaced by the low end torque fetish The mountain runs have never been any more exciting! Hope it helps

Yeah, thanks for your opinion! I'm definitely going catless of course, though!

I decided on the MXP 4-1 header for maximum high rpm power. I don't plan on running a tune just yet. In the near future I will once I find the best unit with a canned tune for 91. I'll let you guys know what my impressions are after its installed.
