I feel like I read about this awhile back... which thread?

...or is this something really recent? If it was recent, then nm, but it sounds familiar anyway...

I can, dealt with tons of them while working in credit card fraud and social work... honestly you do the best you can to help them but deep down inside feel like you should punch them repeatedly in the face until logic can get inside their thick skull... but you don't because that wouldn't "Politically Correct" or "Socially Acceptable" and also probably would leave you out of a job

I figure if I can get through to only a few of them in my lifetime it will have been a success

TBH I'd still be doing the social work thing if the salary was anything I could live off of (atm I'm making 2.5 times as much as I did in social work and I'm a fucking administrative assistant/information management officer) and yes that is as boring as it sounds

It is recent. It's also not the first of it's kind but I think this one takes the proverbial cake... the amount of disconnect with reality this kid has is quite literally jaw dropping

Ps sheep see how i use sentence good, i sentencing good when effort applied by personator

You ever dodge a knife coming from a 7yr old... tell me that's not entertaining

The things I've heard and seen would make some people give up on humanity me thinks

I've thought about psychiatry tbh but it entail a full medical doctorate and the effort accompanied with it and I don't think I have the funds or patience to go through it all
plus it's too much about medicating, I feel like a lot of these patients are unfortunately beyond human help (read as only meds will really help them at this point) and/or that you can only truly do damage control at this point (I'd rather help someone out of a tough spot back to their normal; vs preventing to the best of my ability someone's spiral into self destruction (be it physical or psychological). I'm generalizing a lot (if I weren't this'd be a 50 page essay at least). It's getting through the issues vs controlling/learning to live/adjusting to the issues. That being said they are not mutually exclusive and in fact most times complimentary (psychology vs psychiatry) but the focus on psychiatry, the things you see, are enough to break a lot of people (look up depression, suicide, unhappiness stats for mental health worker and you'll see it's a very mentally taxing domain)

depends on the knife, the butter knife was ok, the steak ones and the filet knife not so much... I would say I'm above average at dodging incoming objects seeing as I'm not part knife at this point

Holy crap. I was on Gaia for a while. I wasn't too bad, but I'm not social so the group stuff always gave me issues.
