I know the price is a little above the NADA but the twins are listed really high by every seller. Figured that placing mine well below the other sellers would be enough. All the other similar twins are in the 17-18k in listing price.
The engine has never been replaced. Why do you think it has? |

Carmax is another option.
I lived in Scottdale for about 4 years. I stayed away from darker color cars when I bought my TC because it gets too darn hot. I would consider selling it to Carmax unless if you're able to sell it in other markets. If that's not an option, get rid of the subwoofer. I know the back seat does not get used but it's kind of weird being at the back seat with wires sticking out. You can let the buyers know that you have a subwoofer that comes with it and can be installed after purchase. Clean and polish the car. I see swirl marks everywhere on the picture. Engine needs to be cleaned. It gets dusty in AZ but I doesn't take long to clean it. Last edited by ARTBRZ; 04-02-2016 at 06:52 PM. |

I would leave out the fact that a 52k miles car has original tires. My first thought is that I'm going to have to buy new ones very soon if I buy it.
Better, less contrast, less glare photos would help, as would cleaning the engine bay. But I don't know why so little interest, unless it's because there are too many for sale. A 13 manual with 12k miles is selling for 13K, and it's been up for 26 days.

This stuff has probably already been said but I'll give my advice:
1. Reduce the number of photo's. Show the car from every angle so the buyer can see any potential damage that exists. Like 1 from each corner, one of each side, one of front and rear. Take them at a consistent distance on a nice day and make sure they come out clear. In your pics, its hard to distinguish the sunlight glare from white/bleach spots. 2. Take pics of nice selling points, like if you have the window sticker, owners manuals, maintenance records, all keys etc. Clean your engine bay!! This would be a selling point for me seeing a pristine engine, it makes you think the car was well taken care of. 3. Are the white spots on your backseat stains/bleach spots or is that sunlight. If so, explain what it is to the seller and expect them to chew you down a little for the blemish. 4. Do not show pics that have wires showing or show any mods that you have done. If you want to use your amp/sub as a selling point, include it in the text of your ad and show the seller when they want to look at the car. I would only include photos if it was a super clean install. Expect to get chewed down $500-$1000 for the tires with 52k miles on them. I sold my last car, an 06 Honda Civic Si with 135k miles to some kid and his dad on craigslist. It took a few weeks to get a hit but be patient. If you are desperate, make it cheaper than others of the same year/make/model/condition out there. Some spoiled kid with good parents may pick yours over someone elses if it's cheaper. |

Ad is too wordy. Pictures are always a plus on ads but I think you have too many and most don't show the true beauty of the car.
Your ad is equivalent to meeting someone and having them telling you their whole life story. |

Leave out 'blower motor has been replaced'...As it's not normal/usual to have to replace such an item on a four year old car.
Leave out all of these words: Bro, Drone, CUV. Bro might not be the current term where you live for...friend, buddy etc. These days we normally think of drone as a toy copter, with a camera, not a parasite as I think you mean. I've been a car nut for my entire life, never before heard the term CUV...had to look it up. I DO think it good to tell prospective buyers that you are not a kid who modded the car, raced the car, etc. Additionally, if that's true, get rid of (in pics) any added stereo stuff, any added parts under hood which did not come from the factory. You might be looking for a buyer like me, who wants a straight car, and cares not if a car has even a radio, much less additional amps and speakers. People my age actually have the money to pay cash for a car ! Don't go beyond that, telling them what a FRS/BRZ is all about. They should already know that before looking at ads for such models. Too much hype makes you sound like a car sales person on a lot. And as stated by someone else here: Certainly original tires on a 52k car seems out of place. Why is there what looks like an ash tray in the interior of a car which the seller claims has never been smoked in ? Find out just where buyers in your area are most likely looking for used late model cars. It might not be The Craig thing, it might be some other national posting or advertising site. It might be an app youthful buyers look to on their smart phones. Some years ago I used AutoTrader in the San Diego area and had great luck selling numerous cars, yet there, it may no longer be the place most people look. You need to know what's up to date on this issue....which varies from state to state, town to town. New car dealerships just can't get enough of their model cars to sell on their used car lots. They buy cars from auctions. Some of them have their sales persons cold call ads for used cars in their area...in an attempt to buy more cars for their lots. They are looking for private sellers who need money quickly. Well, go to such a place and ask the used car manager if they do so, and just where they look to buy cars from private parties. They know where to look in a current time frame of what's popular for selling places (media). Some of us might be surprised going to a used car manager at a new car dealership and stating honestly what we're all about right now. "I want to know where to sell my car at a private party price, I am not a buyer today from you, I don't want to sell my car to you at a trade in price." Posts about "doesn't use the word 'bro'"
Uses the word in the ad. Don't make assumptions about the buyer(s) and don't make assumptions about the demographics of the current ownership. That will help you a lot, more than any pictures. -alex |

One thing I liked about the ad is that it didn't feel misleading, some of the advice here is to intentionally hide the things you've done, not listing a speaker then I go see speaker wires? No mention of the TRD intake until I lift the hood? I'm going to assume the wiring is shit or the part is a knockoff and that's why it wasn't listed in the ad hoping I wouldn't scrutinize it.

Another thing that has been said is to clean the engine. When I am looking at used cars one of my alarms is a freshly cleaned engine bay. I know many on here do clean it on a regular basis but most people do not. If somebody cleans it just before they sell a car I always wonder what they are trying to hide.

Something you need to understand is that seeing overpriced cars on CL does not mean those cars are actually selling for those prices.
When you look at CL in list form, you'll see a date next to the title. That's the date that the listing was last updated. It doesn't tell you how long the car has been for sale. However, if you look at the bottom of the listing itself, you'll also see the date it was first posted. For example, yours says it was first posted 2016-03-19 5:16pm. Now go look at some of the others on the site. Those cars listed for $19K and $22K have been for sale about as long as yours, if not longer. That $26K Release Series has been for sale for over a month. The $16K listing with too many exclamation points has been on there for about a month also, and he actually listed it twice. All those people are probably in the same situation you are, wondering why their car isn't sold yet. So just be patient. |
