Hey, my catback is faily quiet...(so that you can only hear me from 3 blocks away vs 10 once I get headers haha).

At one point we had 4 local guys running Tomei 80R with tomei front pipes and catless headers. They would always roll in together to meets making ungodly amounts of noise

Yeah header will make it loud for sure, specially with aftermarket exhaust. Only way I'll do header is if I can get some quiet single exit exhaust... which is impossible, so I'm SOL.

Oh god... I would not want to be near those guys. I might throw a bricks at em lmao jk but seriously, IDK how ppl can drive in that loud exhaust. 3 block away loud exhaust, I'll prob survive daily (as long as exhaust noise is good)... but Tomei whole exhaust setup is way too loud. I'll be deaf in few days.

Yeah, tone is key. Took 4 set-ups to find my Tanabe single exit. If its too loud with the headers I'll prob do a custom magnaflow setup like I wanted before with JDM tips. I just prefer single exit if I can get away with it.

And from the sound of it the GT Radials are fairly quiet from the 2 out of 3 that responded to me.

I ran the GT Radials on my last Lancer and am running their Ice Pro snow tires on the FRS right now. When I need new summer tires I have every intention of going to the GT. They are not the best tire in the world but for the price they do a very good job on a street car. I am not sure I would want them on a track though.

They should be a fair bit quieter than the stock tires and actually give you about the same grip and feed back. They will how ever wear out a little bit faster than stock but nothing substantial and due to the price it doesn't matter. I put about 40K on the Lancer and they would still pass a safety inspection. My snows have about 25K on them and still look like new.

Yeah, single exit exhaust for our car is very limited... Custom is the way to go. Only issue is, sound. There's no guarantee, til it's finished.

Thanks for the info on the tires. I'll keep that in mind.

I'm not racing with it. I already have tires for that. Just simple daily tires, point-A to point-B & maybe, MAYBE lil push here & there.

The setup I'm tempted to try is the Tomei UEL header, Berk overpipe (just because I'm too cheap to replace it), HKS dual resonated front pipe, and PERRIN resonated 2.5" catback. I haven't really seen a setup like this and I bet it would produce such a clean note.

The Tomei UEL headers I put on my 03 WRX were amazing. +40ft/lbs on a mustang dyno over stock.

That is my use for them and like I said they were very good on the Lancer and will go on the FRS when needed.

Yeah, I would imagine so. I think the Tomei/Gruppe-S header has one of the deeper tones which keeps sound down imo. Im gonna run the gruppe-s/tkmei header, motiv OP, berk catter FP (Autox rules so I need a cat) and maybe add a resonater if its too much. we'll see

That's another idea I had. Right now I have Berk's test pipe but I know it would be too loud/raspy so it's getting changed out. I might just swap it out for the catted version and then maybe have a shop add a resonator.

From evolution's standpoint, there are only two things that matter: having offspring and having the offspring survive long enough to reproduce in turn. That is the true meaning of "fitness" and "survival of the fittest" -- your genes get into the next generation and the next generation survives. Otherwise, you are an evolutionary dead end. Everything else (civilization, religion, society) is a social construct. Nothing wrong with social constructs, in fact they are essential to humanity's survival, but it should be recognized that reproduction is neither selfish nor generous. It is simply how we survive as a species.

No offspring = no survival.
