Sounds like a stupid question but would it be possible to install the kit at home and drive the car half an hour to my local ecutek tuner? Obviously without really putting my foot down. Would i run the risk of blowing my engine just driving those 30 minutes? Really trying to figure out this tuning thing before actually buying the kit.

probably wont start... id call a tow truck, it cant be much for a 30 minute tow. AAA or even toyo guard may tow it that far for you if your car came with it, or you are a AAA member.

yeah dont risk it, with the boost coming in at low rpm, your car will be knocking with too much timing from the stock tune. with the supercharger on you can however drive it in the parking lot without a tune.

Yea you're right. I have a stage 2 uel tune from my open flash tablet at the moment i should just wait. I might actually drive to the shop the day after I get the kit to grab a ecutek tune for it and tune it myself at home after the installation. Then get it dyno-ed another day just to make sure everything is running properly.

I used mine for a week after installation before the tune and had no problem (for city driving only but done like 70 miles like that). Just be prepared that some warning light will be on and definetely don not rev it and do not use full throttle...

Don't do it, better not risk anything. Ask your tuner if they'll be able to get you a canned tune at least. Something that'll be get you to the shop where they can finish up

What would the community recommend if there is no local tuner available?

get the flash editor with the kit. install it, run 91 tune, then mail them the FE for the 93 tune.

For those of you that have an aftermarket front beam brace (ex. Beatrush) and or performance radiator (Mishimoto) installed with your v3 supercharger... What kind of clearances were you able to achieve?

I managed to keep everything from contacting the AC condenser and beam brace... but it is REALLY close. My intercooler sits at a slight angle in towards the center of the bumper... is that normal when installing on an otherwise stock 86? I'm thinking it is due to how the intercooler meshes with the Beatrush front beam brace. I had to fab up some brackets... Fitment of the Mishimoto oil cooler is next... I'm going to try and angle it like the HKS intercooler.

I fabricated the following in order to fit my HKS v3 supercharger intercooler to my Beatrush front beam brace...

The flat bracket is in addition to the LH bracket that comes with the kit. It keeps the intercooler pushed away from the A/C condenser end tank. The other bracket secures the RH side of the intercooler to my Beatrush front beam brace using a 80mm M6 hex bolt, washers, 60mm spacer, and nut.

The clearance is minimal all around... nothing was touching when I temp installed it last night. Once I put it back together this week, I'll post pics and measurements of all the close calls.

The M6 x 80mm bolt, washers, spacer, and flanged nut secures my intercooler bracket to my Beatrush beam brace.

I was able to complete this bracket for the traction fluid cooler yesterday. I just have to paint the brackets gloss black and clear coat them.

painted and cleared...

Temp installed...

Drilled an M6 hole...

Ready to be mounted...

Installed...

Up next is the fitting the Mishimoto oil cooler...

I will probably run into issues mating the intercooler outlet to the pipe going to the throttle body because of the angle the intercooler sits at. The way I have it was basically the only way I could get it to fit without touching the surrounding parts. If I raise up the left side... the intercooler contacts the A/C condenser end tank. I'll make adjustments as I move forward in my install... I might have a custom front beam brace welded if the Beatrush doesn't work out.

Polished all the intercooler brackets..

Slanted intercooler and Traction fluid cooler installed. You could see how I pushed down my A/C condenser by slanting the brackets to create space up top.

Polished brackets ready to go...

Placed a spacer between the A/C condenser boss and bracket. I did this to create space... the A/C condenser now sits flush against my Mishimoto performance aluminum radiator.

Very little clearance here...

I would say mid to high 300's depending on other parts/factors.

E85 is great for the extra power and lowered temps. The only thing that has me worried is fuel starvation on track. Many local members have had this issue once going flex fuel.
