I'd argue it is split pretty much down the middle.

Also, if the car came with a decent amount of power from the factory....there probably wouldn't even be a split to begin with.

I stopped reading as soon as he said the rebranded FRS was dubbed the GT-86.

Unpopular? I've never wanted a turbo for this car.

70/30 in favour of the power is ok crowd is probably more accurate but we are both looking for the guys that support our viewpoint so that could be skewed as well. Maybe early in the car's history there were more power guys but that seems to be fading a bit.
And define "decent amount of power" anyway. If it came with 250 then some will say it should have 300. If 300 then that is not enough it should be 350 and so on. Hell, guys squeeze more power out of WRXs and STis because "they don't have enough". A guy here at work has a 600hp Eclipse and he is trying to get it to 650 which will be "just right" for him.It is the numbers game and the usual internet armchair racers (not the guys that own them and want more) crowd that screams not enough the loudest.
I have asked the question of "why do you want more power?" about 20 times and have received one answer. The fun part is that there is no wrong answer but people still can not say more than "because it is under powered" which does not say why they want more.
People want it to track? Great a perfect reason. Feel they can't merge without it.? Cool I don't know how they are driving but still fine. Want bragging rights and Facebook likes? Still a valid reason no matter what anybody says. The response of "it is slow and underpowered" is not however a fact nor a reason to want more.

I was kind of concerned about the power before buying one. After owning it for a week I think it's perfectly fine.

There is more than enough power there (for any kind of legal road driving...), its just at the top of the rev range. Reminds me of a 600cc sportbike in a way.

Mine already has a catback... I may add an intake and a tune at some point but I don't think I would ever turbo it.

I have a theory which I probably read somewhere. Don't remember.
But I believe Toyota is benefitting more from this venture than Subaru. Also if this car had more power, it would be priced in the range of the WRX. Subaru mostly does not want competition for its popular cars. Which would be the case if it got "decent" power.

I agree with that opinion BUT...and this is a pretty big but; I DID opt to go FI. My reason is that I purchased this car to keep for years and years and it is my very first tuner car with a lot of mods and I'm not worried about depreciation in 15 years. I have not regretted it! It does make the car more fun on my daily commute where there is a lot of straight line driving and I can no longer get cut off by V6 Camrys.

The car isn't extremely fun to drive in straight lines but the FI kicks it up a few notches. Yes the styling is cool but I am more about the drive.

Normally aspirated, the car is amazing in the twisties. Unfortunately where I live I don't get to drive many of them. And the closest track is maybe 60 miles away so I can hope for a few visits in the summer at best. Not often enough to keep me content with NA.

Used to feel the car was underpowered, now I think its just right. It makes it more fun to push without worrying about getting into trouble and forces you to be a more involved and better driver. The power is definitely at the top of the rev range.
