crx-303 is rated at 4ohms, infinity speakers are 3ohm speakers, so I multiplied the crossover points by .75

my amps crossed over at 80 hz, so in reality the 6.5 will drive 80~375

Anyone try the JBL GTO 328? It looks like it will fit and is 2 ohms. I just want a better fill than the standard rear speakers. I don't want the world just a better balance of sound.

If the rest of your system is stock I found moving the fader to Rear 2 improves the fill and allows the volume to get a bit louder before the woofers starts rattling the doors or distorting. If you are wanting to replace them I imagine any aftermarket speaker would be an improvement, and if you're not going to amp them I think you're pretty much good to go with anything.

Rear Speakers

I am in a similar quandary with system choices. I do NOT want to add weight so I am trying to be smart with choices and replace the factory amp with something of similar size and weight to at least drive the fronts. Going either Kenwood Excelon or Alpine, but probably will end up with Kenwood Nav. The rear speakers are a pain to get to I understand (anyone have a DIY on getting to them without breaking any tabs etc..)?

Secondly, if you are spending the time to get in their and Dynamat, why not upgrade the speakers...or just take the caps off the little guys and run with it crossing them over with sound processing etc.

IMO they're not particularly difficult to get to.
remove seat bottom, remove bottom door sill from front door, pull a little bit of weather sealing, like 3~4 push pins, and then pull the whole panel off.

Decided to put separates back there, the system is being installed today and tomorrow. We wanted to maximize cone area since I am not using a sub. Will be 7" components front and rear with the rear stage crossed over at about 80hz. Will post pics when done.

Where are the rear crossovers? I just installed new speakers and put in sound dampening, but the highs are being cut to the rear. I know they're just for fill but I like to have some highs in the rear and I cannot get it until I take out or modify the crossover.

There were no components on the speaker or in the immediate wiring. Does anyone know where they are?

Some good info throughout this thread. One thing I'd like someone to explain to me about this "rear fill" thing. When I play with Audio Settings and move Fader to full-rear (e.g., R-5), there is barely any sound coming out of the rear speakers. I have to push volume to over 25 to make out what is on the radio. Is this representative of "Rear Fill" -- just a little bit of sound to round-out what is coming from front speakers?

do you know when you buy the frs, the factory stereo isn't turned correctly and the sound is completely wrong for the car, you can maximize the sound if you change the settings to FRS,

It will even let you customize your opening screen on your head unit,

to do this

Turn your car onto accessories, turn the radio off if its on, Push and hold down the volume knob, when it beeps, turn the volume knob to car type select frs,

Did you consider adjusting the Fade 2 or 3 notches to the rear?
That's what I've done, and it fills out nicely.
It also slightly reduces some of the bass from the front, so you may need to adjust your EQ accordingly.

Rear fill is wasted for DVD or SACD audio unless your processor uses some sort of surround processing. NONE of the head units currently out will put out a 5.1 signal, they simply take the audio on the disc and output in stereo. The ONLY processor that can decode proper surround sound is the Alpine H990, which is discontinued, and extremely expensive even used.
