@navanodd beat me to it.

Take that snow day and go drive in it. Find an empty parking lot, pedal dance or TC off, and practice.

1. Donuts are fun but practice recovering.

2. Also practice braking. Get a feel for the ABS. Stomp on the brakes. Don't be afraid of the chatter.

3. Then turn on the nannies and get a feel for that. Depending on your level of experience, you may actually find them intrusive

Just got myself a 250k plan a few weeks ago, in addition to the previous 10k plan that I get for free. Hah

I will do that next winter. I do not yet have the blizzaks and this snow should be short lived. Spring is basically here so there's no sense in buying snow tires now just to drive/practice for a day or two. And besides I have to work in order to make money for tires. :P

As much as it kills me, until this snow is gone (shouldn't be more than a few days) I will get rides from friends or jog to and from work.

you work 10 minutes and you want to risk driving in the snow? Just call a cab and be done with it

Probably not a good time practicing late trail braking deep into a corner.

Btw. Did you drive in the snow? Your avatar looks like you did and your car is on its side.

We've got a pretty sizeable snow storm hittting now that will continue into tomorrow around noon. It's supposed to snow about 8 to 14 inches. I am still new to manual (pretty much have no issues anymore at this point though). And my previous car was an old ford explorer with 4 wheel drive. I imagine this is going to be an interesting experience on the way to the office in the morning.

Any tips? I don't have much of a choice. I need to get to the office. It shouldn't be an issue next winter as I plan to get an old truck next fall as my winter vehicle. I had thought winter was over. I should have known better. Haha
10 minute drive? Have a coworker pick you up for a couple of days. Just pay them gas.

Walk?

Uber?

Lol, he's already stated on the previous page that a coworker will be giving him a ride to work.

Don't know what your plans are for the car but if you want to know what the limits of the stock tires are, the Milwaukee region SCCA has its first autocross April 17th and a driver school the 16th. Its more fun than on ramps.

That sounds awesome. I may have to check that out. I will take a look at it on google tonight after work!

For future reference: can I make it through a whole winter with blizzaks? Also, the first day or two I took a pretty sharp corner at about 50mph, without slippage on the stock tires. Then a week later went to take a 90 degree corner at about 40mph and had a bit of skid. I thought that was a bit weird to have 2 totally different experiences with its cornering behavior. And no I haven't done it a lot. So, it's not like they are worn out already. I have done that maybe 4 times. And I have never turned traction control off yet or pressed the vsc button. I haven't been brave enough yet. Manual learning comes first. Haha.
What I have noticed on summer tires is once you get to 40F or colder, the traction with the tires go away. The couple of times that I have driven the BRZ when it has been in the thirties, the back end is skating all over the place. Drivable but definitely don't want to push the cornering limits.
