What started off as getting new tires resulted in wheels and tires. Enkei PF01 in 17x8 with 45 back set with 225/45/17 PSS. The wheels are pretty decent for the price point. I am not a huge fan of the center cap and DT was out of black lugs. I have owned PSS in the past, but forgot how good they feel versus the primacy tires. No clearance issues with camber bolts in the front maxed outName: 20160320_143039.jpg

VIN Schematic Research in Progress

Guys, I have some amazing news.

I have the ability to look up the VIN of Subarus and I tested out the VIN of the HyperBlues.

What I found out was:
  • G9600001 is supposedly the beginning VIN of the 16 BRZs.
  • With that said 001-219 is currently unattached to a specific vehicle in the U.S.
  • The first HyperBlue ends in 220, and is owned by Corporate Subaru in New Jersey.
  • Corporate Subaru owns 220-229.
  • No VINs are attached to 230-237.
  • The first Retail BRZ is number 238 (which somebody owns in this registry!)

I'm going to look more into the numbers so that we can get an idea of which HyperBlue we have in terms of a consecutive series. Call me crazy but because there are only 500, I can potentially look up every single VIN and confirm the existence and schematic for the fun of the community and as an enthusiast.

However, there is also no way I can lawfully prove this because the documents I'm looking at belong to SOA and I can't just post them on the internet.

Therefore you guys will just have to trust me! I don't how I can earn trust over the internet. A lot of you guys know I'm a Subaru Sales Representative and I'm fairly active in my region (SF Bay Area/Peninsula).

Eventually, I'd like to create a master list of the HyperBlues, which will show the original retailer and city that the specific BRZ was originally shipped to.

And of course, I will not post or share any personal information that I find if I find that a VIN belongs to a member of someone in this forum

...AND #756 is the last Series.HyperBlue I can pull up.

757-770 is unused.

And G9600771 Is the first non-HyperBlue 2016 BRZ that pulls up.

Next step is to confirm each VIN between 220 - 756. Thus, I'll be able to find out which VINs aren't used, and then assign #1, #2, #3, #4... and so on!

The wheels look great! Was considering those or raijins. Could you post anymore pics of how the wheels in the wheel well?

Neat! I'm 752.
Good to know, I'm 5th to the end.

Thanks for your work on this

Yep...cool stuff. A guy named Jeff Coe runs the 968 registry of the 4000 or so that where imported....which colors and options. Some mileage flaws pop up from time to time on the resale market.

I have the last serial number for the 1992 model year in a soft top. Ten from the end with the hyper.

Thanks. Had the kit professionally installed by a mechanic. I ordered the kit with the EcuTek programming kit only to find out that Edelbrock does not yet have a tune for the 2016 BRZ's. So based on info on this forum, and having my mechanic make a bunch of phone calls, I had to by a tune. We used the Delicious tune and the results are amazing! No quirks, but I only have about 1000 miles on the tune. I really don't expect any problems.
Just as a side note: I follow the Edelbrock threads and there seems to be some problems with the DYI'ers. Even tho the kit is supposedly easy to install, I would still recommend a professional installation.
So again, if you have a 2016 BRZ and Edelbrock still doesn't have the tune, you may want to save some bucks and purchase the kit without the tune.
Also, here's the results of the Delicious tune.

Yes. Get a bunch of ziplock bags. Break down bolts by area such as front fascia, radiator support, fuel rail, fuel rail cover, ECU.
For disconnecting the fuel lines, don't get a tool, grab two zip ties, cut them in half, jam them into the quick connect, and yank the line out. Thank me later.
When it tells you to reinstall the fuel rails, plug the crossover cable (blue clips) into the rail before you reinstall them on the side you're working on. Basically clip it in, then rotate the rail into place. Otherwise it will tell you to reinstall the rail first, then the crossover, but it's a tight fit and you could damage the crossover.
Remember to clock your injectors to the tabs on the rails. They're dual cone spray and have to be aligned right.
Yes, it is okay to zip tie the evap harness that close to the block.
You should probably grab a second person for: Front Fascia, Manifold/Blower, and reinstalling the serpentine belt (unless you use a knee or something clever).
Make sure your tuner knows to offset the MAP for a 2.5bar Bosch 0 261 230 042.

Thanks, Luftwaffe. Been following your trials and tribulations on the FI forum. Although I have no idea what you and others are talking about, tune-wise, I hope you finally get it straightened out.
